The Dodo moving house involves submitting a Support Request from the issuer that contains the moving date, new address and availability.
Said simply, that’s everything. However, there is much more, so let’s unwrap all the essentials!
Dodo Moving House – What Do You Need?
When moving to a different location, you must accept that you may have to stay without services for a couple of days at least.
This is entirely normal, except if your new location has an nbn box installed, in which case, Dodo can activate your services remotely.
However, this is rare, and in most cases, you’ll need a technician appointment that will come to your new location and set up everything necessary.
However, you must prepare some essential information before calling the Dodo team to request internet service moving house.
Here’s what you’ll need to know before reaching out to Dodo:
The only step that seems to trouble users is understanding the availability of their new address, so we’ve prepared a quick description of everything you must do…
How to Check Dodo Address Plan Availability?
According to your new address, you must check the nbn availability and the rollout status, which will suggest how the moving house process will go.
Luckily, Dodo has an online page where you can immediately check your new address for availability by simply inserting the new address.
- Simply go to Dodo Check Your Address!
You only must insert your new address in the field above to check what nbn services are there and how the process would go.
Here are the possible results that you may see for the address:
Service Area is Available 🟣 | Build Commenced Area 🟤 | Other Fibre Provider Area 🟢 |
You can order plans over the phone, and Dodo can set up your internet at the new address without visiting the site or installing anything. | The nbn coverage in the area is currently under construction, and services may not yet be available without a technician visiting your new address. | The premises in that area can connect to a fast Fibre internet, but an intervention from Dodo may still be required to install your internet at the new address. |
Note: You can also check the service type available (Fixed Line or Fixed Wireless).
Dodo Internet Moving House – Complete Steps Guide
We recommend reading the entire moving process to familiarise yourself with what comes next!
1. Pack Up the User Equipment
Upon signing up for your Dodo internet, you must have received your user equipment, which is the modem and the cabling involved.
You should not pack up the nbn box as this equipment stays in the old location, but you’ll have to take your modem to the new address you’re moving to.
- Your modem is connected to the nbn box via the Ethernet cable that comes with you.
Otherwise, you will need another cable at the new site.
In addition, we recommend taking any other wires with you, such as extra Ethernet wires that you use to connect the devices to the Dodo modem.
When you pack up your equipment, keep reading!
2. Submit the Support Request
One of the steps to undertake as early as possible is to sign in to your Dodo Account so you can submit a Support Request.
You must select the “I am moving” option to clarify the reason for your request and possibly include as much information as possible about the moving house.
We recommend including:
- The exact date that you’ll be moving.
- The exact address of your new home.
- Information from the address checker.
This will speed up the procedure and help Dodo decide how to handle your case.
You will be contacted via SMS or Email based on the new address availability and informed of what will come.
In most cases, Dodo will contact you to schedule a technician meeting for installation.
3. Set Up Scheduled Meetings
We recommend waiting for Dodo to contact you before relocating your equipment.
You may need to consider additional factors based on the supported nbn plans at the new site, so we recommend sitting tight.
Dodo should contact you in a few hours/days to confirm the setup.
When No Meeting Is Needed?
No technician meeting will be needed when the new address is fully equipped with an nbn service like your old address.
In those cases, Dodo can activate your internet digitally without on-site intervention.
However, these cases are rare, and most likely, you will need to switch plans.
4. Relocate the User Equipment
Once you have a green light from Dodo, you can relocate your modem/gateway to the new site and await the technician meeting.
You must be present when the Dodo technician visits the new site, and the meeting can be postponed if you’re unavailable.
If a technician is needed, you will be notified by SMS or email prior, and the visit date will be scheduled only upon mutual date agreement.
Technician Visit to Old Site?
A technician may be required to visit your old site, based on the type of your service and the infrastructure of your old address.
This is why you must begin the moving house procedure before you move out permanently, or the technician’s visit to the address may get complicated.
Tip: Typically, only one visit is required per site!
5. Pay the Moving Fees (Optional)
Many users consider the moving house payments as a “fee,” while they are not fees, instead, it’s more likely a payment for a new plan.
When you move home, the Dodo plan that you’ll get heavily depends on the new region’s availability and nbn services that can reach the premises.
You may need to pay for the first month of your new Dodo plan in advance, which will activate your services without delay.
This may be necessary, but Dodo will inform you exactly what the required payments are.
If you don’t have to switch plans, you will remain on the same Dodo subscription without additional moving fees and taxes.
That is pretty much everything about the moving house Dodo internet procedure!
Note: Paying happens after a technician visit when everything is set up and ready to go!
6. Connect Your Dodo Modem
The only step that may be left for the user to undertake is establishing the internet connection to the modem and then to your devices.
This is simple if you haven’t factory reset the modem, and you only need to connect the device to the nbn box (existing or recently put) by technicians.
For this purpose, you must use the Ethernet cable, which connects to the appropriate port on the nbn box (as per your service) and into the “WAN” modem port.
From there, your connected devices should become online, or you need to connect them to Wi-Fi just like at the old address.
Note: If you have issues after the relocation, contact Dodo directly for troubleshooting!
How Long Does the Moving House Process Take?
Typically, after a technician visits your new address, for your services to arrive, it could take between 3 to 10 business days.
The nbn connection time varies based on factors, most of which are related to the infrastructure and technology type existing at your new location site.
The moving house procedure may take up to 20 days after submitting your Support Request.
This is not that much considering the number of things Dodo must take care of, but they will try to set up your services as close as possible to your moving date to prevent potential downtime.
Note: Dodo will send you a confirmation email when everything is sorted out.
Quick Recap:
Hence, Dodo Internet moving house involves submitting a Support Request with the “I am moving” reason and providing the moving date, new address and availability.
Shortly, Dodo will contact you to discuss and guide you with your moving home request.
