Is Disney Plus not available in your region and you’re not entirely sure why?
Do you want to dig deeper into the reasons why you aren’t allowed to view content from Disney Plus?
Worry not, because, in this tutorial, we will give you everything you need to know about the geographical restrictions of Disney Plus, as well as how you can make it work!
The “Disney Plus is not available in your region” error is caused by the fact that it’s unavailable in some Asia-Pacific regions. If you’re receiving this even if you’re using a VPN service, power cycle your modem/router. After that, ensure that your location services are on. Disable the current VPN provider you’re using and use a reliable VPN service.
Before we get to that, let us first discuss why you’re unable to access Disney Plus in your region.
Reason Why Disney Plus is Not Available in Your Region
Disney Plus is still in the process of rolling out the program to several parts of the world.
Initially, it was only made available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and other European countries.
It has since expanded and become available to other Asia-Pacific locations such as Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
There are several factors that make it difficult for them to roll it out to other countries, among them are distribution agreements, censorship laws, as well as the internet infrastructure of some countries.
Where is Disney Plus Available?
Even though Disney Channel, the channel that all kids loved, has been globally made available, its online counterpart, which is Disney Plus, isn’t.
As of the moment, Disney Plus is only available in five (5) regions, which include:
- Asia-Pacific
- Europe
- Latin America
- North America
Furthermore, you can access it in a total of 50 countries, some of which include, but are not limited to the U.S., Canada, U.K., New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Italy, France, Denmark, Ireland, etc.
What Languages Are Available for Disney Plus?
Since it’s available in multiple countries, the company was able to come up with user interfaces (UIs) in different languages for both the app and the web browser.
These languages will depend on your location, and some of them include:
- English (UK and US)
- Italian
- Japanese
- Chinese (Hong Kong, Simplified, and Traditional)
- Danish
- Dutch
- French (Canada and France)
Will Disney Plus Be Available in All Countries?
While there’s no guarantee that it will, Disney is on the move of rolling the streaming services out for more countries as the weeks go by.
So, if it becomes available in your region any time soon, don’t be surprised because Disney Plus is working its way to allow the streaming for many other continents, regions, and countries.
Can You Watch Disney Plus If You’re in a Region Where It’s Not Available?
Yes, you sure can! A lot of people who are outside the geographically accepted locations of Disney Plus can access it without experiencing any trouble.
How do they do it? – They use a VPN or a Virtual Private Network.
VPNs, as we all know, can lift or bypass these geo-location restrictions because it will seem like you’re physically connected to an IP address from a different country.
So, how do you watch Disney Plus if it’s not available in your region?
Disney Plus Not Available in Your Region? – How to Fix & Access
In this guide, we’ll teach you the correct steps for you to be able to access Disney Plus even if you’re in a country where it isn’t available.
Step #1: Double-Check Your Internet Connection
The first thing you want to do is to double-check if you have a stable internet connection.
Being a streaming service, Disney Plus would require a good, stable, and reliable network for it to function.
So, check that your internet connection is good.
QUICK NOTE: If you can connect your device to your modem or router via an Ethernet cable (wired connection), it would be better because the internet will be direct.
Power Cycle Your Modem/Router
Should the internet be unstable, power cycle your modem/router to make sure that it’s functioning properly and correctly?
- Unplug your modem or router from power.
- Leave it unplugged for 15 to 45 seconds.
- After that timeframe, plug it back to power again.
- Wait for up to three (3) minutes for the device to reinitialize again.
NOTE: If your modem/router has a power or standby button, turn it off via that button first before unplugging it.
Be sure to unplug it, powering it off via the power button won’t drain the electricity stored inside its capacitors.
Step #2: Enable Location Services
After that, you need to make sure that you have your device’s Location Settings turned on.
Whether you’re using a smartphone, a tablet, or a laptop/computer, turning it on to be able to access Disney Plus is necessary.
Here’s a guide that’ll teach you how you can activate it on different devices.
Turning on Location on Windows
- Click the Start or Windows icon.
- Then, navigate to Settings > Privacy.
- At the top of the page, you’ll see Location Services – turn it ON.
Turning on Location on iPhones
- Go to All Apps > Settings.
- From there, select Privacy > Location Services.
- Toggle the radio button to turn it on.
Turning on Location on Android Devices
- Go to All Apps > Settings.
- From there, scroll down and select Location.
- Move the radio button to the right to turn it on.
Step #3: Activate or Turn on Your VPN
Then, once you’re sure that your internet connection is stable and your location is turned on, it’s now time to activate your VPN service.
To do this, open or launch your VPN and wait for it to settle down. When it does, select a server where Disney Plus is available.
Optional Step: Disable Your Old VPN Service
Now, as an optional step, you can disable or turn off your old VPN service.
This step is optional because it’s possible to run two (2) or more VPN services at a time.
What this does for you is further strengthen and protect your connection.
However, if you’re going to use it to bypass geographical restrictions, you need to make sure that the servers you’re connected to would be in the same country (i.e., you’re connected to the U.S. for your Disney Plus VPN).
Step #4: Launch Disney Plus
When that’s all done, the last and final step is to launch and access the Disney Plus app.
It should go through the regular process of verification, but now that you have a reliable VPN service, you should be able to access the contents available for the region you’ve connected to.
The prompt “Disney Plus is Not Available in Your Region” is caused by physical geographical restrictions. Disney Plus is only available in certain countries, and if the country you’re in isn’t listed there, you wouldn’t have access to Disney Plus. Use a VPN to bypass this restriction.

Final Verdict
Don’t fret if you see the Disney Plus not available in your region prompt, because you’re not alone!
Only 50 countries are authentically eligible to get it, so most people would really see the Error Code 73 or the “not available in your region” alert.
Work on this problem by using a VPN service so that you can redirect your IP address to a server abroad – or where Disney Plus is available.
