If you encounter a Dish Anywhere Chromecast error, don’t panic. Some solutions will help you fix it to enjoy Dish Anywhere content on your TV again. Let’s get started!

#1: Your Chromecast and Device Need to Be on the Same WiFi

Your Chromecast and device may be on different WiFi networks, stopping them from working together and playing content on your TV.

To fix this, ensure both devices are connected to the same WiFi network.

But first, check if your Chromecast and device are connected to the same network.

  1. Open the Google Home app on your device.
  2. Select your Chromecast device.
  3. Check the name of the WiFi it is connected to.
  4. It should be the same as the WiFi your device is connected to.
  5. If not, you will need to change it.

How to Change the WiFi Network on your Chromecast:

  1. Open the Google Home app on your device.
  2. Select your Chromecast from the list.
  3. Choose the gear icon at the top right corner to open Settings.
  4. Tap on WiFi and then Forget Network.
  5. Tap on Add Network.
  6. Select the same network your device is connected to.
  7. Enter the password if prompted.
  8. Tap on Connect.

Once your Chromecast and device are on the same network, try casting Dish Anywhere again and see if it works. If not, you’ll need to proceed to the next solution.

#2: Refresh Your Connection By Power Cycling Your Router

Problems with your WiFi will also cause Dish Anywhere and Chromecast connection errors.

Poor signal strength, interference, or dropped data packets also disrupt the casting process.

To fix this, try power cycling your router.

  1. Unplug your router from the power source.
  2. Wait for about 30 seconds before plugging it back in.
  3. Once plugged in, wait for it to boot up completely.
  4. Check if your WiFi connection is working properly.
  5. Verify that your Chromecast and device are still connected to the same network.
  6. Try casting Dish Anywhere content again.
Note: Power cycling your router helps reset your router and clears any glitches or errors that might be causing the issue.

#3: Disable Battery Saver or Optimization on the Dish Anywhere App

Another possible culprit for your Chromecast having trouble casting content from the Dish Anywhere app is your device’s battery save or optimization feature.

It may be limiting the app’s background activity to save battery.

disable the battery saver option

To resolve the issue, disable the battery saver or optimization feature. This should help the app run smoothly and allow you to cast content without interruptions.

For iPhone:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on the Battery option.
  3. Select Low Power Mode.
  4. Move the slider to the left to disable it.
Pro Tip: To disable it quickly, add Low Power Mode to the Control Center.

For Android:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Android device.
  2. Tap on the Battery menu.
  3. Select Battery Saver or Battery Optimization.
  4. Find the Dish Anywhere app from the list and tap it.
  5. Select Don’t Optimize or No Restrictions.
Note: The steps to disable this feature may vary depending on your device model and operating system.

#4: Enable Permissions on the Dish Anywhere App

enable the permissions on app

If you’re experiencing a Dish Anywhere Chromecast error, your app may not have the proper permissions to access certain features on your device.

To resolve this, try granting permissions for the Dish Anywhere app on your device to give it the access needed to cast content.

For iPhone:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on the Privacy option.
  3. Tap on the type of permission you want to enable.
  4. Find the Dish Anywhere app on the list and tap it.
  5. Select the Allow option to access the permission.

For Android:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
  2. Tap on Apps or Applications.
  3. Find the Dish Anywhere app and tap on it.
  4. Tap on Permissions.
  5. Select Enable on all of them.

Granting the necessary permissions should get your Chromecast to work with Dish Anywhere. If it doesn’t, you need to proceed to the next solution.

#5: Reset Your Phone’s Network Settings

reset your phone network settings

Another possible reason is corrupted or misconfigured network settings.

This will lead to problems with your WiFi connection and prevent you from casting content on your TV using Chromecast. To resolve this, try retting your phone’s network settings.

For iPhone:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select the General menu.
  3. Tap on Reset and then Reset Network Settings.
  4. Enter your passcode if prompted.
  5. Tap on Reset Network Settings again to confirm.

For Android:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap on General Management or System.
  3. Tap on Reset or Backup & Reset.
  4. Tap on Reset Network Settings or Reset WiFi, Mobile & Bluetooth.
  5. Tap on Reset Network Settings.
  6. Wait for the reset to complete, then restart your device.
Note: Reconnect to your WiFi network after restarting your iPhone or Android device. Then, check if your Chromecast and device are on the same network.

#6: Reset Your Chromecast via the Google Home App

If your Chromecast device is having issues, your Dish Anywhere app may not be able to receive or display content.

To fix this, reset your Chromecast via the Google Home app. It will restore your device to its default settings and clear any glitches affecting it.

  1. Open the Google Home app on your device.
  2. Tap on your Chromecast device.
  3. Tap on the gear icon to open Settings.
  4. Tap on More Settings at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Tap on Factory Reset.
  6. Tap on it again to confirm your action.
  7. Wait for the reset to complete.
  8. Set up your Chromecast again.
Note: Resetting your Chromecast will erase all your personal settings and preferences, so you’ll need to set it up again.

#7: Disable AP Isolation on Your Router

AP Isolation or Client Isolation enhances security by preventing devices on the same WiFi network from communicating with each other.

However, this feature hinders the casting process between your Chromecast and Dish Anywhere app.

To resolve this, disable AP Isolation or Client Isolation on your router.

  1. Open the web browser on your device.
  2. Enter your router’s IP address in the address bar.
  3. Enter your router’s default username and password to log in.
  4. Navigate to Wireless Settings or Advanced Settings.
  5. Look for AP Isolation or Client Isolation and disable it.
  6. Save the changes and restart your router.
  7. Check if your WiFi connection is working properly.
  8. Verify that your Chromecast and device are still connected to the same network.
  9. Try casting Dish Anywhere and see if it works.
Note:  Your router’s default username and password are found on a sticker on the underside of your device.

To find your router’s IP address, the quickest way to do it is to open Command Prompt, and then type ipconfig. Look for the Default Gateway item; opposite it is your router’s IP address.

#8: Turn Off MAC Filtering on Your Router

turn off mac filtering on router

Your router may use MAC Filtering, which prevents devices from connecting to your WiFi network. To fix this, turn off MAC Filtering on your router.

  1. Log in to your router’s admin dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Wireless Settings or Advanced Settings.
  3. Look for MAC Filtering, and select it.
  4. Click on the option to disable it.
  5. Save the changes and restart your router.

When your router restarts, wait for it to connect to the internet before checking if your Chromecast works.

If not, you will need to contact Dish Anywhere Support for help getting your streaming and casting set up to work.
