Tip: If the phone is already dead, leave it to charge for at least two hours.

Step #2: Try Other Charing Methods

Try other charging methods if you plugged your phone into a wall outlet and it didn’t work. Connect your phone in the ways below and check the display.

The USB port on your computer:

1. Connect one end of the USB cable to the charger port of your phone.
2. Connect the other end to a USB port on your PC.

Tip: Plug your charging cable into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on a powered computer and not on Sleep mode. Do not use the ports on your keyboard.

Plug into a power accessory:

1. Plug your phone into a powered USB hub or docking station.
2. Charge your phone with your other devices.

Try wireless charging:

1. Connect your charger to power if you have an iPhone 8 or later.
2. Place the charger on a level surface.
3. Place your phone on top with the display facing up.
4. Your phone should start charging in a few seconds.

Note: Wireless charging is still relatively slow compared to when you plug in your phone. We don’t recommend it unless it’s the only option left.

The wall charger with your phone is specifically designed for this purpose and will always be the fastest option.

Some devices even have supercharging, which speeds up the process.

Here are a few tips about charging with your original charger to keep your phone’s battery healthy:

1. Do not wait until your phone is dead to recharge it.
2. Do not wait for your phone to be at 10%.
3. Plugin your phone when it’s between 40 and 60%.

Note: Charging your phone when it is already dead makes the battery work harder and reduces its life expectancy.

Step #4: Clean the Charging Ports and Connectors

Another common cause of charging issues is dirty, clogged ports and connectors.

Dirt and debris can build up inside the ports and prevent the contacts from engaging properly.

1. Open Settings > Software Update.
2. Your device will check for available updates.
3. If an update is available, tap Download and Install.

Note: If no updates are available, you will see “Your device is up to date.”
