If you have a Chromecast not showing up on Google Home issue, there are many things to consider. Your Google Home may have some problems, or there is faulty hardware.
In the end, the best thing you can do to troubleshoot is to reset your Chromecast to factory settings. But before you get to that, we have a few solutions to recommend.
If you can’t see your Chromecast on Google Home, the most common reason is Internet connectivity. Your Chromecast and the device you are casting from may not be connected to the same network. If it does not match, Forget the Network and reconnect your devices to your Wi-Fi network again.
Any issue will interfere with your ability to cast to your Chromecast. This article will help you learn what causes these problems and how to fix them.
Use the steps below to get your Google Home device and Home app connected to your Chromecast again.
Top Reasons Why My Chromecast is Not on Google Home App
As one of the first and most well-known parts of the Google Ecosystem, Chromecast is affordable and feature-rich.
It makes your Android TV a pleasant experience until you encounter issues.
Internet Connectivity
The thing most frequently related to Google Home issues and smart devices is the Internet connection. Verify that all your devices connect to the same network.
If they are, but your Chromecast still won’t show on the Home app, disconnect some of your devices and restart the router. Then, turn off and turn on your Chromecast.
Issues With Your Google Account
Another reason your Chromecast is not on your Google Home app is an issue with your Google account. Try to sign out and sign in once more to fix the problem.
If this does not help, reinstall your Google Home app. Chances are there may be something wrong with the application itself.
Software Bugs
Sometimes, the Google Home app and Chromecast can go down due to software issues or data center problems. Make sure everything is up to date.
Update your Chromecast and device to get the latest version with bug fixes, security patches, and the newest features.
Weak 5GHz Signal
If you are using an old Chromecast, it may not be compatible with the bands put out by your Wi-Fi.
You should adjust the settings to use the 2.4GHz band to eliminate interference.
If you can’t change the settings, reset your Chromecast. If your router has a filtering section, block your device from connecting to it.
Once you know why you can’t see your Chromecast on your Google Home app, you can take the appropriate actions to solve the issue. Below is a list of solutions you can do on your own.

It will clear all configurations and set the device back to its default settings. Hopefully, this should clear any errors.
- Plug your Chromecast into your TV and power them ON.
- Press and hold down the button at the back of the Chromecast.
- You will see a blinking yellow LED light.
- When the LED light goes solid white, release the button.
