In order to perform a cast on UKTV Play, connect both your devices to the same WiFi and get the UKTV Play app on your casting device. Next, select a TV show or a movie and press the “Casting” button at the top-right and select the receiving device!

To go over the essentials, we’ll first discuss what casting requires, whether you could do it and what are the supported/compatible devices.
Since casting is a Network-Transmitted Process, both of your devices (mobile and/or TV) must be paired to the same Wi-Fi.
From there, you get the connection of your TV or another streaming device in UKTV Play’s tasting menu.
Compatible devices with UKTV Play casting are the following:
- Android and IOS Devices
- Laptops running Windows
- Tablets running both IOS and Android
Casting practically makes the display of the “casted” device be displayed on the second device which is the receiver.
You’ll see a live broadcast of what’s being cast on the secondary device’s screen. For as long as your device has internet, the casting will work!

Cast UKTV Play – Best Methods!
All of the methods we’re about to review require an Internet Connection!
Thus, before proceeding any further, you must verify that both the “caster” and the receiver device are connected to the same network.
It doesn’t really matter which Wi-Fi thread they are hooked up to, as long as they share the same WiFi network as your internet device.
With this being clarified, let’s jump in with the first method!
Method 1. Cast Directly From a Mobile Device
The easiest way to achieve casting is to do it from a Mobile Device.
If your UKTV Play subscription is still intact, all there is left to do in preparation is acquire the mobile application of UKTV.
This will allow you to send a direct broadcast request to the receiving device, whether that’ll be your TV, laptop or even desktop computer.
Let’s review the instructions in more depth and how to achieve that type of casting!
Step #1 Launch UKTV Play on your Mobile
The first step is to simply launch UKTV Play on the mobile device that’ll do the casting.
In order to view the broadcast of UKTV Play on a bigger screen, the casting has to be done through the UKTV Play mobile app on your device.
- If you still haven’t got UKTV Play, download it from the app store and sign in
Make sure to log in with an account that still has an active subscription. Otherwise, the casting feature may be disabled and you’ll not achieve broadcast transfer.
Tip: Before proceeding, ensure UKTV Play is updated to the latest version.
Step #2 Select the Casted TV Show
Once in UKTV on your mobile, it’s time to select the appropriate TV show that you will be casting to the receiving device.
Whether that’ll be a movie, TV show or even a live TV broadcast, it doesn’t matter much.
- Ensure that your network is active and that both your mobile and receiver are paired
All you have to do is select the TV show from the home screen and stand by the info page. This is where the casting button will appear and you’ll succeed in the process.
Note: Any TV show and movie can be cast in UKTV Play.
Step #3 Send Connection Request
And for the final step, you’ll have to send a connection request by enabling the casting. There is a cast button at the top-right corner of the TV show’s info page
Press the Casting Button and locate your TV’s connection. The details that’ll give away which one of the connected devices is your TV is network related and could be hard to guess.
In that regard, test each of the connections until your TV begins the casting session.
Note: A broadcast of the TV show will be displayed on your TV once it has succeeded.
Method 2. Achieve Casting to a Set-Top Box
Next, we’ll be achieving casting through UKTV Play on your set-top box. Let’s learn how!
Step #1 Prepare your Setup
In order to achieve smooth casting and achieve it quickly, you must prepare your setup beforehand.
By “prepare”, we mean getting the network connections right and installing UKTV Play on the appropriate device.
Here are the preparation steps you should execute:
- Turn on your set-top box
- Connect your set-top box to the network
- Get UKTV Play on the device you’re casting from
- Check the Network’s Functionality and make sure the connection is intact
If by any chance your network goes offline, the casting will fail soon after.
Note: Once your setup is ready, let your TV box idle for now.
Step #2 Discover Box in the “Casting Menu”
For this step, we’ll be discovering your box in UKTV Play’s “Casting Menu”.
If you’ve been through our previous guide, you’ll pretty much know what’s to come in this step.
Either way, here’s how to do it:
- Launch UKTV Play on your device.
- Select a TV show or a movie.
- Press the “Casting” Button.
- Press the name of your TV box.
- Wait…
As long as both your set-top box and the casting device are on the same network, a UKTV Play broadcast should appear on the associated TV’ screen.
Note: With older versions of UKTV Play, the casting menu could be in a different place.
Method 3. Cast Via the Chromecast Dongle
Perhaps, the easiest way to achieve casting is through the Chromecast Dongle.
Let’s learn how to cast UKTV Play to your Chromecast in easy steps!
Step #1 Manage Chromecast’s Network
Before we go any further, you should first check and verify the Chromecast’s internet connection.
In order to do that, you must go into chromecast.com/setup and press “WiFi”. You’ll be needing a device with a browser installed on it
Once at the WiFi setup menu, select your Home Network from the list and type down the security password. Press “Connect” and your Chromecast should soon be connected.
Alert: Make sure that your Chromecast is powered and plugged into an HDTV Socket.
Step #2 Get UKTV Play on the Casting Device
Whether it’ll be a laptop or a tablet, you’ll need a device to perform the casting from. Get the UKTV Play app on the device you wish to cast from
You should also verify that the same network connection is performed on the casting device as it is on the Chromecast. Otherwise, the dongle will not appear on the menu.
Note: Double-check your network’ status and make sure it is online.
Step #3 Start Casting
And for the final step, you should start the Casting.
Once you have both your casting device and the Chromecast in a ready-set-go position, you could begin the casting by pressing a particular setting in the UKTV Play app’s menu.
Here’s how to start the casting:
- Select a TV show or a movie in the UKTV Play app on your Casting Device.
- Press the “Casting” Button.
- Press the connection labelled “Google Chromecast”.
- Wait…
Once a cast request is sent, the TV of your Chromecast should display a broadcast of the show!
Note: Keep your devices connected and your network intact in order to proceed to cast.
