Brother HL-2270DW LED Indications!
There are quite a few different LED indicator lights on the Brother 2270DW printer.
Each of them means a different notification for the user so let’s learn more about the light’s meaning.
Here’s what the LED indications mean on the Brother 2270DW printer:
- Toner (Yellow Light) – No toner or a Cartridge Problem!
- Drum + Error (flashing) – The corona wire has to be cleaned
- Drum + Error (solid) – Drum Stop, replace the drum with a new one
- ALL Lights Flashing – Service Call, solvable via power cycle
- Error LED only – Laser unit failure
- Error (flashing) – The fuser cover or front cover is open
- Error (solid) – No paper in the tray or manual feed is required
In this guide, we’ll be aiming at a solid green light “ready” because that’s how the face of your Brother 2270DW should look when the printer is healthy.
Throughout this guide, we’ll attempt everything possible to solve ALL warning/error indications at once so buckle up!
Let’s next jump straight into the solutions to fix the error light permanently!
How To Fix Brother 2270DW Error Light?
Following the aforementioned bullets, we’re going to address each possibility where the (red) Error Light is known to appear.
With a bit of luck by the end of this post, the printer will be OK!
Let’s jump straight into solution #1:
Solution #1 Restart Brother Printer!
It’s safe to start with a simple restart against any kind of error light on the Brother 2270DW printer.
The good old power circulation method will discharge ALL device components allowing a fresh start, which hopefully will help us understand the problem better.
Here’s how to perform a power cycle on your Brother printer:
- Turn OFF the Brother Printer.
- Unplug the device from the power source.
- Wait for at least 2 minutes!
- Plug the device back into the power.
- Turn ON the Brother Printer.
When the device is back on, the “ready” green light should be flashing for a few moments and then turn solid. When that happens, test whether your printer is able to perform a task.
Note: Avoid plugging your Brother Printer into a power strip to avoid power-income complications.
Solution #2 Insert Paper In The Tray
Sometimes the Brother 2270DW Light Error appears because of a lack of paper.
In some rare cases, when there are actual sheets of paper in the Paper Tray, users only need to re-insert the paper stack for the error to go away. Perhaps this will help!
Let’s next learn how to re-insert paper in the Brother 2270DW printer:
- Pull the Paper Tray out of the machine.
- Take out any remaining sheets of paper.
- Press the Paper Slide to be able to fit the paper.
- Take a 20-30 sheet stack of paper.
- Insert the paper into the Paper Tray.
- Gently adjust the Paper Guides.
- Insert the Paper Tray into the Brother Printer.
- Lift the Paper Support Flap.
When the paper has been re-inserted into the Brother 2270DW Printer, we’re ready to perform another restart.
Use the steps from solution #1 to reboot your Brother Printer and when you’re ready the Error Light should no longer be there. In case the issue is still there, proceed further!
Alert: The paper has to be gently embedded into the Paper Tray and not under pressure!
Solution #3 Feed Paper Manually
The manual feed slot is designed for users that intend to print smaller sheets of paper such as envelopes and custom labels.
However, A4 sheets of paper can also be fed in the manual input, so this way we’re going to carry out a print session to potentially remove the error!
- Open the Manual Feed Slot.
- Slide an A4 sheet of paper, using both hands!
- Continue to insert the sheet until the front edges touch the roller.
- Release the sheet when the printer grasps the paper.
- The paper will remain “on hold” until a command is sent.
Now when the paper is manually fed to the machine, you’ll only need to press the Go Button, which will essentially carry out a scan and print.
In our case, nothing will be printed as long as there is no pending WiFi printing queue. The error should now be gone!
Note: Inserting more than one sheep of paper into the Manual Feed Slot can result in a jam!
Solution #4 Printer Maintenance
When the Error Light is flashing there are quite a few possibilities why this indication appears, therefore we need to inspect everything.
Due to the nature of this flashing error indication, we’re made a complete maintenance step list, for everyone to be able to follow.
Let’s jump right in!
Close The Covers!
Your 2270DW Brother Printer has a Front Cover and Fuser Cover that has to be closed before the machine can start executing any tasks.
You need to close the front cover which is in front of the manual feed mechanism as well as the fuser cover on the back of the printer.
Clear Paper Jams
Pull the Paper Tray out of the machine and using both hands, gently pull out the jammed paper.
In addition, you’ll need to open the Fuser Cover and take out any jammed sheets of paper.
Flush The Memory
You can clear the memory of your printer by holding the Go button for more than 3 seconds.
As an indication of successfully released memory, ALL printer lights will turn on and off.
Disabled Duplex
Sometimes the Duplex Tray is not recognized due to a dispositioning.
To learn more about the problem, users need to take the Duplex Tray out of the machine and re-insert the component.
Clean The Corona Wire
To conclude the HL-2270DW Error Light we need to open the front cover and allow the machine to cool down for about 10 minutes.
The next step is to take the Drum and Cartridge Assembly out and clean the main corona wire located in the drum unit. The components are later reinstalled and the error is gone.
Note: To boost the performance of your Brother Printer, lower the print document resolution!
Solution #5 Reset The Brother Printer
