Solution #1 Check the Ethernet Cable & Port (Wired Setup)
Before considering any technical method, first, check to see if the Ethernet cable of the router is in good condition.
If it is worn out, your modem will clearly be unable to get an internet connection from the DNS server.
Also, check to see whether the Ethernet cable port on your laptop, computer, or modem is functioning properly and that nothing is obstructing or blocking the port.
You can recognize a working Ethernet port when the connected cable is blinking!
Here is how to check the ethernet cable and port of your devices:
- First, make sure to unplug the modem and the other device from the Power Outlet.
- Next, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the modem and from the computer.
- Stretch the cable and carefully check the cable on both ends for any wear out.
- Replace your Ethernet cable if you notice any fault in the cable.
- Connect the cable from one end back to the modem and another end to the PC.
- Then, check for the error.

Solution #2 Check Your Internet Connection!
As we have previously discussed, the error code 1000 comes on the modem when the modem doesn’t have an internet connection.
The internet availability is important for your Bell modem to fix the error code 1000 from your device.
The internet is not accessible through your modem either because your ISP deactivated it or because data packets were lost along the way.
You only need to check that your modem has access to the internet, regardless of what could cause this.
- Call your ISP and make sure the Internet subscription is active!

- Open the command prompt on your PC by searching as CMD.
- Type “Ping” on the prompt screen and press the spacebar.
- Enter your device IP address and press Enter to check the ping time.

Solution #3 Restart The Bell Modem
Occasionally, an issue with the Bell modem might cause the internet on the modem to slow down or become unstable.

Solution #5 Change Network Bandwidth (For Hub 2000 & 3000)
Often, the network bandwidth also contributes to the device’s connection issues.
If you have a Bell Home Hub 2000 or have an error 1000 Bell hub 3000, then try changing your modem’s network band.
Only these two modems can handle 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band spinning.
Despite the fact that the modem adjusts the band on its own based on the internet speed, try switching it manually to stop the automatic spin.

Note: Ensure that your PC is connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable during a firmware update.
If using a mobile, connect it via WiFi during a firmware update, and don’t make any calls to avoid interruption.
Here is how to update the Bell modem firmware:
- Open the browser on your PC or mobile.
- Go to the official Bell hub website and sign in.
- Go to the Bell Hub Upgrade tab.
- Download the file and then extract the file into your device.
- Open a browser and enter 192.168.1.1 into the search bar and tap enter.
- Enter the User in the password section and tap on Login to continue.
- Once you get access to modem Settings, tap on Wireless LAN.
- Uncheck the box named Enable WLAN.
- Click on Apply to save changes.
- Next tap on System from the side menu.
- Look for the Software Update, and tap on Browse to continue.
- Select the updated downloaded file from your device and tap on the Update button.
- Wait until the update is complete, and once it does, tap on Close Window.
- Restart your hub by tapping on the Restart button.
When you’re ready, go to the Wireless LAN section and check the box named Enable WLAN, and tap on Apply to save changes.
Lastly, you can log out from the Bell account.

Solution #7 Factory Reset The Bell Hub
If your modem is still showing you the 1000 error code after implementing every solution in the guide, perhaps Factory Resetting the device will fix the issue.
However, if you perform a reset, all of your modem’s settings and saved data will be deleted, but don’t worry, you can easily set them up again.
Here is how to factory reset your Bell modem:
- First, remove the Ethernet cable from the router if connected.
- Next, locate the Reset button on the modem and press and hold for 10 seconds.
- Once the reset is complete, you’ll see a flashing light on your modem.
- Simply set up your modem again.
