How To Fix When Bell PVR Not Working After Power Outage?
We’re now about to learn what are the best solutions for your Bell PVR if it refuses to work as a result of a power outage.

Solution #1 Press the “Power” Button Multiple Times
To give a start to our troubleshooting, you should make sure that the PVR is fully discharged.
The only way to do that is by pressing the Power Button multiple times.
This will cause all of the electricity that was existing in the PVR when the power outage took place to be discharged and you’ll be able to turn on the device.
- Locate the Power Button on the PVR”s top panel and press it 10-15 times!
Each pressing of the power button should be longer than 1-2 seconds and it must be done more than once.
In case it does not work, press it just enough, for your PVR to turn on.
Note: Keep in mind that it may take only a few clicks until your PVR starts up!
Solution #2 Unplug the PVR
Perhaps, all your PVR needs is to be unplugged for a while, in order to regain the electrical charge once you plug it in.
This is a common aftermath of a power outage since it could cause the current charge of your electrical devices to be dispersed out of the hardware.
As the device proceeds to being plugged in once power is restored, there’ll be no supply, until the device is reconnected from the outlet.
Follow these steps to unplug your PVR the correct way:
- Grab the outlet’s end of the PVR’s power adapter.
- Unplug the adapter of the power cable.
- Disconnect the other end of the power cable.
- Wait for 5 Minutes while both ends of the cable are unplugged.
- Re-attach the power adapter end to the electrical outlet.
- Plug the other end of the cable into your PVR.
- Attempt to use the PVR…
It may take about 10-15 seconds for your PVR to become functional again, after reconnecting!
Note: Make sure to give your PVR a cooldown before attempting to turn the device on.
Solution #3 Plug into a Different Source
Electrical Outlets could most often become victims of a more serious power outage.
That’s why you should relocate your PVR and connect it to a different power outlet, to test if the previous one has burned out.
Keep in mind that if one or more outlets have gone faulty in your house as a result of the power outage, it’s best to contact a technician!
Let’s move your PVR into a new location now:
- Disconnect all cables going in, and coming out of the PVR.
- Locate a new spot for the device, somewhere in your house
- Place the device in the new spot and grab ahold of the power adapter.
- Plug the adapter into the new source.
- Test the PVR…
Alert: Do not use any power strips, dividers or third-party devices in your PVR’s power setup.
Solution #4 Reset the Bell Receiver
There’s an easy way to perform a Reset on your Bell Receiver, without having access to the settings.
Taking in mind that your receiver refuses to turn on at all, you could trigger a reset using the Power Button on the top panel of the device.
- To reset the Bell Receiver, hold the power button for 15 Seconds
Once held for 15 seconds, let go of the button and give your PVR a while to undergo the reset.
Although the device may not currently be working, it will still take its hardware a while in order to recognize the reset and resume all system’s functionality.
Note: Once the reset is complete, you should be able to turn on your Bell PVR.
Solution #5 Replace the Power Adapter
If nothing worked so far, perhaps it’s the equipment that has gone faulty. What you should do next, is have the power adapter of your Bell PVR replaced, with a new one.
This is the only way to tell for sure, what has gone wrong with your receiver and whether it is an internal hardware fault, preventing your device from turning on.
You should be able to acquire a new power adapter at an approachable price and since the Bell PVR uses standard models, it should be too hard either.
Once you have the new adapter, install it in your setup and test it.
Note: Place the new power adapter exactly the same way as the old one was.

Here’s how to fix it whenever your Bell Receiver stops working after a power outage!
Method #1 Reset the Room’s Breaker
Especially what a power outage could cause an impact on, is the entire room’s power.
Most often the circuit breaker of the room could have switched off as a result of the power outage, to protect your electrical devices from short circuits.
What you should do is perform a reset on the room’s breaker, in order to restore power to your Bell Receiver.
- Locate the breaker’s panel and then reset the switch of the room where the receiver is
All you have to do at the breaker’s panel is push to switch downwards, keep it there for 5-10 seconds and then bring it back up.
Note: It is universal for all receivers that the “ON” side is the top and the “OFF “is the bottom!
Method #2 Unplug with TV Powered OFF
Some users have reported that unplugging your TV box while the TV is powered off resolves the problem with the cable box.
This occurs due to the cable connection between the Bell receiver and the display of the TV.
By turning off the TV, you’ll be able to make the physical connection with the receiver inactive, allowing the set-top box to discharge more appropriately.
In that regard, turn off the TV and unplug it from the box. Once that is done, disconnect the power cable of your box from the electrical outlet and wait for 5 minutes.
Note: Once 5 minutes have elapsed, reconnect the receiver to the power outlet.
Method #3 Try the “Long Unplug”
Perhaps, you could try the “Long Unplug” Process.
As the name suggests, you’ll be leaving your Bell receiver unplugged for a longer amount of time than usual, with the goal of achieving the ultimate discharge.
This solution is recommended to users who had been struggling to resume power to their electrical device after a power outage and this fixed it for them.
In that regard, disconnect the Bell receiver and let it unplug for 5-6 hours (usually overnight).
Tip: It’s best to unplug the receiver before going to bed so it could be for the whole night.
