2. Router Overheating
If you have had your router for a long time now, chances are it has accumulated so much dust.
This blocks the vents and the airflow, causing your device to overheat.
The router’s CPU will shut down for a few seconds to cool down when this happens. You can prevent this by cleaning your router regularly.
3. Incorrect Configuration

- Attach them properly.
- Power your router and wait.

Solution #2: Cool Down Your Router

To find the IP address of your device, download Asus Device Discovery first.
- Open the Asus Device Discovery utility.

Note: To configure the settings, choose the model name of your router and click Settings to log in.
Then, follow the instructions below.
- Find General Tab on the left panel.
- Choose Adaptive QoS.
- Toggle OFF Enable QoS to limit your bandwidth and keep your connection normal.
Solution #4: Check Your Wi-Fi Settings (SSID and Password)
Check if your SSID and password settings are correct. You may need to change them to fix the issue and for security reasons.
After changing your password, connect to your router again and check if you can search for the new SSID.
If your device cannot see your Wi-Fi settings, check if other routers can.
If only specific routers cannot search the SSID, check the internet function of that device or contact the manufacturer for relevant troubleshooting tips.
If your devices can find the SSID, type the password and check if you have a successful Internet connection.
Note: Make sure to reboot your router if all devices cannot connect to the Internet using the existing SSID and password.
Solution #5: Update the Router’s Firmware
If all your devices cannot search the SSID, make sure the firmware version is the latest one.
Check the current version firmware from the Settings page of your router. If it’s not the latest version, upgrade your router’s firmware.
- Open your browser and visit Asus website.
- Enter your username and password to sign in.
- You will see a pop-up message if a new version is available.
- Click Update Now.
- Go to Administration > Systems, then click Firmware Upgrade.
Wait until the download is complete, then sign in to your account again. Reset your router to default settings and follow the Quick Internet Setup to set up your router again.
Solution #6: Perform a Hard Factory Reset on Your Router
If the solutions mentioned above do not work, perform a hard factory reset. Then, set it up again after Restore.
- Turn OFF your router.
- Press and hold the WPS button.
- Power the router ON while still holding the WPS button.
- Release the WPS button when you see the LED lights flashing.
Note: When the LED lights stop flashing, your Asus router will automatically reboot.
