1. Internet Unavailable

To troubleshoot the connection, right-click the Internet connection icon on the bottom left of your screen and select Troubleshoot problems to diagnose your network adapter and fix the issue automatically. 

2. Router Overheating

If you have had your router for a long time now, chances are it has accumulated so much dust.

This blocks the vents and the airflow, causing your device to overheat.

The router’s CPU will shut down for a few seconds to cool down when this happens. You can prevent this by cleaning your router regularly.

3. Incorrect Configuration

Another common cause of an Internet status disconnected Asus router is setup issues. Check if your device’s wireless name (SSID) and password settings are correct.

Reset your router to create a new network with new log-ins by pushing the reset button at the back of your device.

You can try these basic solutions to get your device connected again.

Solution #1: Check the Cables to Your Router

Check the cables attached to your router and make sure they are tight enough to sustain the connection.

Immediately fix any damage on the wiring and bring replacements if necessary.

1. Remove all wireless cables for 1 minute.
2. Attach them properly.
3. Power your router and wait.  

Note: If this does not solve the Internet status disconnected issue, check the cables for damages and replace them. 

A cable mismatch or a broken connection can sometimes cause the problem.

Solution #2: Cool Down Your Router

Overheating is a common issue in routers that you can easily solve. If your Asus router overheats, its hardware won’t respond or work properly.

1. Disconnect the power cable from the router.
2. Disconnect the Ethernet connection from the router.
3. Turn off the router.
4. Let your device cool down for 10 to 15 minutes.

Note: Turn on your router again and check if letting it cool down fixes the issue. If the problem persists, check the Internet.

Solution #3: Check Your IP Address Settings

If a network problem is why your Asus router has a disconnected internet status, you need to check the IP address settings to troubleshoot it.

To find the IP address of your device, download Asus Device Discovery first.

1. Open the Asus Device Discovery utility.
2. Connect your PC to your Asus router via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.
3. Click the Search button to find the IP address of your Asus router.  

Note: To configure the settings, choose the model name of your router and click Settings to log in. 

Then, follow the instructions below.  

1. Find General Tab on the left panel.
2. Choose Adaptive QoS.
3. Toggle OFF Enable QoS to limit your bandwidth and keep your connection normal.  

Solution #4: Check Your Wi-Fi Settings (SSID and Password)

Check if your SSID and password settings are correct. You may need to change them to fix the issue and for security reasons.

After changing your password, connect to your router again and check if you can search for the new SSID.

If your device cannot see your Wi-Fi settings, check if other routers can.

If only specific routers cannot search the SSID, check the internet function of that device or contact the manufacturer for relevant troubleshooting tips.

If your devices can find the SSID, type the password and check if you have a successful Internet connection.

Note: Make sure to reboot your router if all devices cannot connect to the Internet using the existing SSID and password.

Solution #5: Update the Router’s Firmware

If all your devices cannot search the SSID, make sure the firmware version is the latest one.

Check the current version firmware from the Settings page of your router. If it’s not the latest version, upgrade your router’s firmware.

1. Open your browser and visit Asus website.
2. Enter your username and password to sign in.
3. You will see a pop-up message if a new version is available.
4. Click Update Now.
5. Go to Administration > Systems, then click Firmware Upgrade.

Wait until the download is complete, then sign in to your account again. Reset your router to default settings and follow the Quick Internet Setup to set up your router again.   

Solution #6: Perform a Hard Factory Reset on Your Router

If the solutions mentioned above do not work, perform a hard factory reset. Then, set it up again after Restore.

1. Turn OFF your router.
2. Press and hold the WPS button.
3. Power the router ON while still holding the WPS button.
4. Release the WPS button when you see the LED lights flashing.

Note: When the LED lights stop flashing, your Asus router will automatically reboot.

Suppose your Asus router Internet status says Disconnected. Power off your device, and then let it cool down for 10 to 15 minutes. Chances are your router may have overheated. If the issue persists, check your Internet connection. Make sure cables are connected properly, and your Wi-Fi settings are correct.
