In addition, you need to verify the ASUS GUI IP address and bypass the “Your Connection is not Private” message before performing a Factory Reset.
Here’s why in the first place, your router won’t allow you access to the GUI!
Why Is My ASUS Router GUI Not Working?
Multiple reasons could be denying your access to the GUI of your ASUS Router.
Before we get on with the troubleshooting, it’s best to identify the causes for the problem with your router’s GUI and why, in particular, you’re unable to access it from your device.
Here’s what could prevent you from getting into your router’s GUI:
- Improper WAN Connection on the Access Device!
- A Power or Firmware Problem with your ASUS Router
- An Issue with the Inserted ASUS GUI IP Address
- The “Your Connection is Not Private” Error Message
- An Issue with the used Online Browser
All of the following problems could be the cause of the issue with your router’s GUI, so keep reading to unveil the best possible solutions to address the issue!
ASUS Router GUI Not Loading – Fixed!
After learning more about the occurrence of the problem with your router’s GUI, we’re confident that this problem is nothing too complicated.
The solutions below will help you solve the problem as soon as possible, without any technical steps.
Solution #1 Verify the Router’s WAN Connection!
In order to access your router’s GUI, your device must be connected to the router!
The “WAN” connection (performed by an Ethernet Cable), will allow the data transfer and the ability to adjust the settings of your router, via the device of your own liking.
However, it must be a Windows-compatible device, a PC or laptop perhaps, with a functional browser.
Here’s how to set up the WAN Connection of your router:
- Get a Windows Device that has a browser installed.
- Grab the Ethernet Cable that came along with your router.
- Connect the first end of the Ethernet to your PC/laptop.
- Plug the other end of the cable into your router’s Blue Port.
- Launch any online browser on your computer.
- Try to access the router’s GUI.
You’ll always have access to the ASUS Router’s GUI, as long as your PC/Laptop remains connected to the router. After unplugging it, pasting the ASUS IP won’t take you anywhere.
Note: By keeping your PC connected to the router, you’ll also receive internet without WiFi.
Solution #2 Power Cycle the ASUS Router
Chances are that your ASUS router has developed a particular power or functionality problem that is actively denying your access to the GUI of the device.
To properly handle an issue of this kind, you should perform a Power Cycle on the router by allowing a complete discharge!
- A Power Cycle is achieved by disconnecting the device from the power!
Here’s how to perform a Power Cycle on your ASUS Router:
- If your ASUS router model has a power button, press it.
- Wait for the network device to Shut down.
- Disconnect the Power Adapter of the router, from the electrical outlet.
- Wait for 5 minutes, while the ASUS Router is discharging.
- Reattach the power cable of the router, back into the outlet.
When the power cycle is complete, you’ll be able to test whether your Asus router GUI would be accessible.

Solution #3 Correct the GUI’s IP Address
One of the reasons that your router’s GUI isn’t loading up is that you’re not using the IP address correctly.
There’s a specific address (common for all ASUS routers) that must be pasted into your browser in order to access the GUI.
Once the router’s local IP address, received by the connected machine is entered in the online browser’s search field, the panel should appear.
- The IP address you must insert is:“https://www.asusrouter.com:8443”
Where the link is “www.assusrouter.com” and the standard port of your router is “8443”, pasted together, the following link shall take you to the login page of your ASUS Router.
Any wrong symbol or letter in the IP address will cause your browser to “load” to no avail.
Note: The result of pasting incorrect links may not be shown as an error!
Solution #4 Disable the LAN Proxy Server!
Your browser probably has an enabled Proxy Server for your LAN. This proxy server has the goal to work in your favor and upload data from the internet, on behalf of the user.
It also has security characteristics that could furthermore protect your network from being broken into.
Sometimes deactivating the feature helps overcome any security layers and we don’t need to worry because our system is protected by the firewall.
Here’s what to do:
- Launch your Online Browser (Edge or Google Chrome).
- Go into the Browser Settings (the three dots and the top-right corner).
- Navigate to the Tools Menu.
- Select “Internet Options”.
- In the Connections Tab, select “LAN Settings”.
- Untick the “Use a Proxy Server” checkbox.
Keep in mind that having an enabled proxy server work for you will not apply changes to your dial-up or VPN connections.
It’ll only have relation to your LAN network and your LAN network only, so there is nothing to be concerned about.
Note: Using a VPN will interrupt your proxy server from working for the time being!
Solution #5 “Your Connection is Not Private”
If your ASUS Router’s GUI is failing to load and you’re getting the “Your connection is not Private” message, it’s really easy to take care of this.
In fact, all you have to do is allow your browser to access the page since this is occurring because ASUS’s page is not secured.
This isn’t a problem, since it’s a local page and there is no chance of your getting a virus or your personal information getting leaked. It’s just a precaution of your browser to protect you.
Here’s how to bypass the “Your Connection is Not Private” message:
- Paste the GUI’s IP Address (https://www.asusrouter.com8443) in your browser.
- On the error message, tap “Advanced” > “Go on to the webpage”.
- On the next page, type in both “admin” for username and password.
- Press the “Sign In” button.
Selecting the “Go on to the webpage” will grant your browser access to open up the ASUS GUI page.
However, if you don’t do it manually each time, the browser won’t let you directly into the settings of your router.
Note: To long-term fix, this error message, download a certificate from the GUI of your router!
Solution #6 Factory Reset the Router
Perhaps, it would be best to Factory Reset your ASUS Router and put an end to all of the issues with the GUI.
Our best guess is that the setup of the router hasn’t been done correctly in the bare beginning and that’s why you’re having issues accessing the web options right now.
- Most ASUS routers have a “Reset” button on their back panels!
Follow these instructions to perform a Factory Reset on your ASUS Router:
- Make sure that your router is plugged in.
- Locate the ‘Reset’ button on the back of the device.
- Press and hold the reset button for 5 to 10 seconds.
- Release the button once the lights start flashing.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
After triggering the factory reset of your ASUS Router, waiting is required.
The process will probably be complete in the next 1 up to 2 minutes and after that, the device will reboot.
Thus, to fix when the ASUS Router GUI not loading, reboot the router by unplugging the device from the power outlet.
After that, correct the GUI’s IP address, make sure that a proxy hasn’t been enabled on your browser, and reset the router to factory defaults.
