Wireless interference may affect the strength of your WiFi signal. Physical obstructions and Bluetooth signals can also weaken signal strength.
3. Fire Stick Software Issue
If restarting does not work, there may be a problem with the Fire Stick itself. In this case, the update fails or does not complete.
4. Incompatible VPN Apps
A misconfigured or malfunctioning VPN can keep your Fire Stick from connecting to the Internet.

How to Fix Amazon Fire Stick No WiFi Signal
If you have issues connecting your Fire Stick to a WiFI network, restart your device. Restarting it will often get things up and running again.
If your Fire Stick does not come with a power button, unplug it from the power source for 5 seconds. Then, plug it back in again.
In case this does not work, below are the rest of the solutions you can do at home.
Solution #1: Power Cycle Your Router and Other Network Device
If you face any issue with your Fire Stick not picking up a WiFi signal, check your connection.
The signal strength may not be good. In this case, you need to move your router or Fire Stick to improve the connection.
If this does not work, power cycle your router and other network devices.
- Unplug your router and modem from the power source.
- Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Plug them in again.

Solution #2: Forget All Your WiFi Connections
If your Fire Stick has problems connecting to your WiFi network, forget all your WiFi connections.

If your modem offers both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, switch off your 5G WiFi. Then, try connecting to 2.4GHz if possible. The 5G may be faster, but the 2.4GHz has a stronger signal and greater range.
Here’s how to switch off your 5G WiFi and switch to 2.4GHz:
- Go to Settings and look for Wireless Settings.
- Click the 5GHz band to switch it off, then save your changes.
- Open Settings again and go to Network.
- Switch to 2.4GHz.
- Check if your Fire Stick connects.
Note: If you still cannot establish a strong connection, try a wired Ethernet connection.
Amazon recommends using an HDMI extender to fix connectivity issues and improve performance.
Solution #4: Connect to WiFi Network Manually
In case your WiFi issue persists, try connecting to your WiFi network manually.
If successful, you will be able to use the Fire Stick to stream videos, shows, and movies to your TV using your Amazon account.
Here’s how to do it:
- Connect your Fire Stick to your TV and power.
- Go to Settings and select Network.
- Select your Home WiFi network.
- Enter the network password.
- Click Connect.
If none of these methods fixes the issue, you will want to test for wireless interference. To do this, turn your Fire Stick off and unplug every device near your router.
If any of these devices negatively affects your connection, move them away to strengthen the signal.
Tip: If your home network is not password-protected, it will attempt to connect your Fire Stick automatically.
Solution #5: Uninstall Your VPN App
Your VPN may be preventing your Fire Stick from connecting to the Internet. You can rule this out by uninstalling your VPN app.
There is a tendency where they temporarily alter your network settings, that’s why your device is unable to detect a signal.
- Go to Settings on your Fire TV device.
- Select Applications.
- Select Manage Installed Applications.
- Select your VPN app and click Uninstall.
Note: Check to see if you can connect to your WiFi network. If this fixes the issue, contact your VPN app developer and ask them how to configure it.
Solution #6: Reset Your Fire Stick to Factory Settings
If it’s still not picking up a WiFi signal after trying all the above methods, you should perform a factory reset.
It will reset your device completely, so you need to set it up like you did when you first got it.
Here’s how to perform a factory reset:
- Go to Settings or select the gear icon on the home screen.
- Scroll down and choose My Fire TV.
- Scroll down and select Reset to Factory Defaults.
- Confirm that you want to reset your device.
Tip: The reset process should take about 5 minutes. Once done, you will need to enter the Wi-Fi information and log in to your Amazon account.
Note: Restoring your Fire Stick to factory settings would delete all downloaded content and data. This option should be considered as a last resort if other solutions fail.
