Sometimes, phones that meet the requirements may not work with TruConnect.
In this case, we recommend you contact the company’s customer support service.
Step #1: Get Your TruConnect Network Unlock Code
If you’re looking to unlock your TruConnect SIM card, one of the first things you want to do is to get a network unlock code.
This code will allow you to unlock things like the SIM card and phone so you can use them on different devices and networks.
One thing to note here is that TruConnect will not readily give you the network unlock code unless you have met their requirements.
For one, if you got your phone from them, it needs to be paid off before they will allow you to use the unlock code.
Here’s how to get your network to unlock code for TruConnect:
- If your phone and SIM are eligible for unlocking, call TruConnect.
- Provide your information to verify your account and identity.
- Ask them if your phone and SIM are currently locked with them.
- Ask if these are eligible to be unlocked.
- If they are, they will give you the network unlock code that you can use.
Note: TruConnect can also unlock your phone and SIM on their side without using the network unlock code.
Step #2: Use the Network Unlock Code on Your Phone and SIM
After receiving the network unlock code from TruConnect, you can now start the process.
Make sure that you write down the network unlock code, as it can be several digits long.
After completing this process, your phone will be unlocked from the TruConnect network allowing you to use any SIM card from other carriers.
Here’s how to use the network unlock code on your phone:
- Turn off your phone.
- Using a SIM eject tool, open the SIM tray.
- Remove your current SIM card.
- Replace it with a SIM card from a different network.
- Turn on your phone, and it will prompt you to enter the unlock code.
Note: After entering the unlock code, your phone will start to receive the signal from the other network.
Step #3: Unlock Using the SIM PIN
Another reason why you need to unlock your SIM card is that it comes with a SIM PIN that you’ll need so it connects to the network.
In the case of TruConnect, their SIM cards come with a PIN code that’s printed on their SIM kit.
It’s a four digit code that will essentially wake the SIM up when you insert it on your phone.
There are also instances when you can lock your SIM card to prevent unauthorized use of your phone. With the SIM card locked, your phone won’t be able to send messages or make calls without unlocking it.
Here’s how to unlock your TruConnect SIM using its PIN:
- Find the SIM PIN on your TruConnect SIM kit.
- Locate the SIM PIN on the card, it’s a 4-digit number.
- Turn on your phone.
- When it asks for your SIM PIN, enter the number you found on the SIM kit.
- Wait to verify if it’s the correct PIN.
Note: If the SIM PIN fails, carefully try it again and make sure the numbers you’re typing are correct.
You only have up to three failed attempts.
Step #4: Get Your TruConnect SIM PUK Code
If you fail at unlocking your TruConnect SIM card using the PIN, the SIM will go into a second layer of locking.
Whenever this happens, you can still unlock it, but with a different kind of code. You’re going to need a SIM PUK code, and it’s longer than the 4-digit SIM PIN.
Here’s how to find and get your SIM PUK code:
- Similar to your SIM PIN, look at your TruConnect SIM kit.
- Search for the PUK code, it’s an 8-digit number below the SIM PIN.
- If you lost your SIM kit, you can also call TruConnect’s customer service.
- Ask them to get the PUK code for your phone number.
- List down the number for your unlock attempt.
Step #5: Unlock Your SIM Using the PUK Code
Now that you have figured out your PUK code, you can now start the process of unlocking your SIM card.
It’s a pretty straightforward process since if your SIM is locked, your phone will go straight to the unlock screen.
Unlocking your SIM with the PUK code will also allow you to reset your SIM PIN. This can come in handy in cases that you forgot your PIN and can’t find it.
Here’s how to unlock your SIM with the PUK code:
- If your phone gets locked after typing your PIN wrong three times.
- Enter the PUK number.
- If it’s successful, type in your new SIM PIN.
- Retype your PIN to confirm.
Note: Your phone is going to be unlocked and you can use it as normal.
Step #6: Disable SIM Locking on Your Phone
If you don’t want to deal with locking your SIM card, you can disable it completely.
As long as you’re confident that no one will be able to use your phone, disabling SIM locking is an option you can take.
It’s going to be one less hassle, and if you’re using a modern iPhone or Android, a password should be enough for your security and privacy.
Here’s how to turn off the SIM locking feature on your phone:
On iPhone:
- Go to your phone’s Settings.
- Select Cellular.
- Choose SIM PIN.
- Toggle the switch to the Off position.
On Android:
- Open your phone’s Settings.
- Go to Security.
- Choose the Set up SIM card lock option.
- Toggle the switch to the Off position.
Note: In both cases, you will need to enter your SIM PIN to turn the feature off.
