1. Complete the Initial iQ4 Setup
The installation procedure of the Foxtel iQ4 differs based on whether you’re installing a satellite or internet-serviced streaming receiver.
During the setup, you can proceed with satellite initialisation or complete the remaining setup solely through an internet connection.
Note: You will be prompted to complete the initial setup during the first boot!
Foxtel iQ4 Satellite Setup:
- Power on the iQ4 cable box and connect it to your TV device.
- Switch to the appropriate TV source and complete the first tab.
- Select “Yes, I am connecting by Satellite” on the second step.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to verify the satellite connection.
Foxtel iQ4 Internet Setup:
- Turn on the iQ4 cable box and connect it to a TV via HDMI cable.
- Once at “Step 2,” select “No, I am connecting by internet only.”
- Choose the method of connection for the iQ4 (wired or wireless).
- Follow the remaining steps to finish the iQ4 internet initialisation.
Note: Channels should be automatically assigned to the iQ4 TV guide after the initial setup!
2. Activate the iQ4 Cable Service
The cable box must be activated first to acquire channel service on the iQ4 cable box via satellite or the internet.
After completing the setup of the iQ4 streaming device, the next step is to call Foxtel’s activation number to generate program information and broadcast.
- To activate your iQ4 cable box and satellite/internet equipment, call 1300 732 681 and follow the voice prompts.
Note: The TV box must be connected to the internet or satellite before the activation!
3. Power Cycle the iQ4 Cable Box
If your cable box has already been activated, the next is to conduct a full power circulation of the Foxtel equipment.
A potential temporary fault will prevent the iQ4 from displaying program and guide information or disrupt the streaming service and quality of the channel’s broadcasts.
Follow these instructions to perform a power cycle on the iQ4 cable box:
- Hold the power button on the frontal panel of the Foxtel iQ4.

How to Reconnect iQ4 From Satellite Service?
- Disconnect the satellite cable from the “Aerial IN.”
- Also, unplug the other end of the aerial wall plate.
- Wait for 30 seconds and reinstall the satellite wire.
How to Reconnect iQ4 From Internet Service?
- On a wireless internet iQ4, go to “Settings” → “Advanced Settings” → “Default Installer Code – 1111” → “Wi-Fi” → “Wi-Fi Network” → “Wi-Fi Encryption.”
- On a wired iQ4 internet, unplug the Ethernet cable from the back of the streaming box, wait for 30 seconds and re-seat the cable.
Alert: Verify that the service cable of the Foxtel iQ4 cable box is securely installed on both ends!
5. Check for Foxtel Service Outages
Foxtel outages differ in terms of connection loss, longevity and how impactful the complication is with the broadband or satellite installation.

To overcome such a tuning hurdle, it is necessary to complete the tuning procedure of the iQ4 cable box again from the start.
Follow these steps to tune all available OVA channels on your Foxtel iQ4:
- Press the “Home” button on the Foxtel remote control.
- Select the “Settings” icon from the configuration page.
- Select “Full Scan” and choose “Terrestrial Channels.”
- Choose “Begin Scan” to reacquire all OVA broadcasts.
Note: Press the “TV Guide” button on the iQ4 remote to view the scan results!
7. Re-Align the Foxtel Satellite Dish (Satellite)
Another solution for issues within Foxtel satellite installations is re-aligning the satellite dish to accrue the OVA signal.

8. Factory Reset the iQ4’s System
If nothing worked so far, it is strongly recommended to factory reset the iQ4 and complete the initial setup from scratch.
You might have misconfigured a particular setting of importance during the setup, and accidentally, the tuning abilities of your iQ4 box are now not working accordingly.
Follow these instructions to perform a factory reset on the Foxtel iQ4 cable box:
- Locate the “Reset” button underneath the cable box.
- Press and hold the button for more than 4 seconds.
- Wait until the LED light of the Foxtel iQ4 powers off.
Holding the reset button for less than 4 seconds will simply power off the Foxtel iQ4 and not erase the system settings.
So, if the reset doesn’t work the first time, hold the button for longer.
