1. Reconnect the Unpaired Child Nodes
The first step to creating a successful mesh network is to add each of the nodes into the mesh configuration of the Linksys router.
Each Linksys router hosts its own wireless or wired network that can adopt child nodes to expand the coverage of the Wi-Fi at each end of your household.

Since the Velop mesh supports dual-band connectivity, the connection can be in 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency.

- With nodes distributing a 2.4GHz connection, the estimated distance is up to 130 feet due to the signal being more lightweight and easy to travel through obstructions.
- With nodes distributing a 5 GHz connection, the estimated distance is up to 50 feet, as the signal is heavier, contains more data, and has difficulty traveling through walls.

5. Reset the Parental Unit & Child Nodes

A wired connection is the alternative option for connecting a Linksys Velop child node to the parent unit.
Although wireless pairing is the preference, setting up the nodes via Ethernet link provides a more reliable and faster transfer of data, thus, higher connection speeds.
Here are some of the most reliable tips to restore Velop’s Ethernet connectivity!
Reseat the Ethernet Cable
Perhaps the issue is caused by a loose or unsecured service connection between the Velop parental unit and the network modem.
This could result in lasting connection throttles and prevent the child nodes from establishing a connection with the mesh network.
So, unplug the Ethernet cable from both ends, wait for 15 seconds, and secure it back onto the ports on the parental and child Velop nodes.
Verify that the switch of the cable has clicked in.
Install in a Different Ethernet Port
The Linksys Velop child nodes and the routers have two ultra-fast gigabit Ethernet ports, allowing for third-party connections and one signal coaxial (master) socket.
