There are times when you may experience an error such as Koodo data not working.
This is an error that can affect anyone using a Koodo SIM. To solve this problem, you must troubleshoot factors that could cause data failure.
The main cause for Koodo data problems on new SIM cards is incorrect APN settings.
Koodo instructs all new customers to update their APN settings before trying to access the internet. Besides APN, you could also have run out of data.
This blog looks at all possible causes of failed data connection on Koodo.
Whether you have just purchased a new SIM card or you have been using your SIM for a while, we have the right solution.
Reasons Why Koodo Data Not Working
Before we look at potential solutions, we need to check some possible causes. Some causes are common and should be easy to fix.
Before you even start troubleshooting, ensure that the regular settings are okay.
Things to look for before troubleshooting:
- Confirm that your mobile data is turned on.
- Check to see that Airplane mode is not turned on
- Confirm to see if you have access to other Koodo features such as calls and messages. If these features are not working the problem is with Koodo Network.
- Login to your Koodo account and check to see if you have sufficient data. If your bundle has expired buy a new one.
If you try all these options and find that your phone still won’t connect to the internet, you have to do advanced troubleshooting.
Advanced Solutions to Koodo Data Connection Issues
The solutions we will apply to this problem include advanced settings such as APN changes and hard reset.
Solution #1 Restart Your Device
The first solution you want to try out is restarting your device. Before you go the advanced way, simply restart your device to see if your device will connect to the internet.
Turn off Device
- Press the power button until power options appear on your screen.
- For android Select Restart. For iPhone push the slider to the right
- For android, wait for the device to reboot and try accessing the internet.
- For the iPhone, wait for the device to turn off, then turn it back on.
Note: You can also turn off your device and remove the battery if your device has a removable one.
This option helps to completely turn off all services and restart your device afresh.
Solution #2 Update APN Settings
If restarting your device does not work, chances are that there is a problem with your APN settings.
Make sure you update your APN if you have acquired a new device.
All new devices that use Koodo SIM for the first time may lack proper settings. To solve Koodo mobile data not working, reset your APN.
Here are the settings for the common devices.
APN Settings for BlackBerry
- For blackberry with OS7 and lower go to Settings
- Select Network Connections
- Select Mobile Networks
- Select APN
- Under APN fill in bb.koodo.com
- For BlackBerry devices above OS7 fill in sp.koodo.com
Note: The path for editing APN for blackberry is the same.
The only difference is the content you input in the APN field.
Android APN settings
To change the APN setting for your android, use this path from your Settings.
- Tap Settings
- Select Mobile Networks
- Under Networks select Access Point Names(APN)

If your phone connects to your Wifi Automatically, you may experience problems when Wifi has downtime.
Smartphones are set to automatically disconnect from Wifi when the connection is poor.
If your Wifi connection keeps fluctuating, the phone will keep on connecting and disconnecting.
This process turns your data on and off. Consequently, you will experience poor connection. To solve the problem, simply turn off the automatic wifi connection.
Stop automatic Wifi connection on iPhone
- Go to Settings from your Menu
- Tap on Wifi
- Tap on “Ask to Join Networks”
This means that your phone will never connect to any Wifi without asking for your permission.

Reset your android device
- Go to Settings
