If you have a pressing matter in regard to a lost Shaw account, keep on reading to find the solution.
Causes of Deactivated Shaw Email Account
Shaw has the right to deactivate your account if you violate certain policies.
They may also deactivate your account if you fail to make your monthly payments accordingly. This is just one of the causes of losing a Shaw email.
You can also lose your Shaw email if:
- You intentionally and consciously decide to delete your internet services account and move to a new provider.
- You lose all your login credentials and verification systems
Note: It is important to remember that your Shaw account is tied to your Shaw email.
If you choose to migrate from Shaw to another service provider, you also lose your email.
Solutions to Reactivate Shaw Account
In case you have lost your Shaw account for whatever reason, there are a few solutions.
The first factor to consider is the time period between when you lost your account and the time you wish to recover it.
If it has been a long time, your email account might already be lost. The second important factor to consider is the reason for wanting to access the account.
If all you want is to have your email back, you are okay. If you want to recover old emails the process can be complicated.
Solution #1 Create a New Shaw Email Address
If you only lost your account recently, the solution is to simply create a new email with the same details.
For instance, if your lost email is mike@shaw.ca, simply create a new email with the same details.
This approach will not help you recover lost emails.
However, it will restore your email address and you can be sure to receive all your future emails.
Here are the steps to create a new Shaw email
- Visit https://my.shaw.ca
- Sign in to the web account using your Shaw ID and password
- Click on My Services and select Internet
- Scroll down to Email accounts
- Select Create Email
- Now enter your first and last name
- Select your preferred username( eg mike@shaw.ca)
- Enter your preferred password
- Click on Create
Note: When you select a username, make sure you choose a name that matches your lost email account word for word.
Once your new email has been created, log in and see if you can receive all your new emails.
Solution #2 Link Old Shaw Email to a Friends Account
The other solution to this problem would be using a friend’s account to receive Shaw emails.
If you are leaving Shaw but want to retain your email, you must pay a monthly fee.
For maintaining your email, you will be charged a monthly fee of $4.95.
To ensure that you retain your account details do the following
- Delete your old account from Shaw
- After some hours over a day, log in to a friend’s account using the My Shaw App
- Tap on More in the bottom right corner
- Tap on Shaw Email Accounts
- Select Create Email Address
- Enter your first and last name
- Enter the username from your previously deleted account
- Enter your Password and click on save
With that, you will have recreated your Shaw email under the account of another person.
The person running your account will not have to undergo any serious costs.
Once the account is set up, ask your friend to log in and forward all your emails to your new email address. Shaw emails can be forwarded to TELUS or Gmail automatically.
Note: This process will only be successful if the username you choose is valid.
In some instances, it may take a while before your old shaw email ID is available for other people to use. If that is the case you have to be patient.
Solution #3 Access Emails on Shaw Server via TELUS Account
The third solution to this problem would be to try to access your email from a TELUS account. This will also only work if your shaw account has been active in recent times.
If you have deleted your email but your account is still active, you may access the emails on your account through TELUS.
If you have an active TELUS email, you can configure it to IMAP so that it can access the messages stored on the server.
Once you have access to the messages stored on the server, copy them and store them in your local hard disk in folders.
Set up your email with the following information for IAMP:
- Account Type: IMAP.
- Username: Your Shaw username
- Password: email password
- Incoming Server Security Type: SSL.
- Incoming Server Port: 993.
- Incoming Server Name: imap.shaw.ca.
Note: Shaw keeps all the emails sent to their customers on their server.
If you are an IMAP user, there should be up to 1 gigabyte of messages on Shaw’s mailing server.
Solution #4 Contact Shaw and Request to Reactivate Your Account
The last solution you may want to try is calling the Shaw team.
There are very limited solutions you will receive from Shaw when you call. However, it is an option that is worth trying.
When you call Shaw for reactivation of an email, they will either re-add the email you had before to your Telus account or they will ask you to transfer your email to a different Shaw user.
Whichever option you choose, there are some expenses and conditions that must be fulfilled.
Conditions for getting assistance from Shaw:
- Pay a one-time fee of $4.95 for setting up your account with the previous email.
- To retain the account on a monthly basis, you have to pay a $4.95 monthly fee.
- If you choose to transfer your account to another Shaw customer, they must issue consent.
- Shaw must receive consent from you as well as the account holder.
Note: If you choose to receive your mail through a friend's Shaw account, you have to come to an agreement.
The amount you will pay for mail forwarding will depend on your agreements.
How to Reactivate Shaw Email Account Without Paying
There is no way provided for reactivating your Shaw account without paying.
Whichever option you choose, you have to pay some cash.
You will either pay for monthly maintenance of your account or pay to activate the account.
Ideally, Shaw does not intend to let you retain your account. If you are migrating, you can make sure you do not delete your shaw account entirely.
This will mean that you have to pay a minimum monthly maintenance fee for your email.
Summary
There are several ways on how to reactivate shaw’s email account. One of the tops was recreating your account and choosing the same email name.
Besides recreating your email, you may also access your deactivated account by setting up a TELUS email.
This is something you can do manually or call Shaw customer care for assistance.
