If you are not receiving or sending messages, chances are that your APN configuration could be the problem.
With Freedom Mobile, you can request to have APN settings automatically sent to your device.
If this does not work, you have to manually configure APN settings.

Solution #3 Use SMS Messaging Instead of Online Messaging
The other issue that causes failed messaging is using online messaging services. Almost all messaging applications today have an option for sending messages via the internet.
This option could affect your messages if you have no access to the internet.
The solution is to use SMS only depending on the application you are using. For iPhone users, iMessenger is the most common application while Samsung Messages leads on android.
To change messaging to SMS only on iPhone
- Go to Settings
- Select Messaging
- Select iMessenger or your Messaging App
- Toggle SMS Messaging on/off
This effectively stops online messaging ensuring that you only text using SMS.

- Open your Messaging app
- Tap on the three dots in the left top corner
- Select SMS messaging
This will ensure that every time you send a message it is only sent as an SMS and not an online chat.

The carrier says that using FreedomPop ensures that your phone is compatible with their system.

Solution #5 Deregister iMessaging on Your Old iPhone
If you are an ex-iPhone user, the problem could be with your old device.
When you activate iMessenger as your primary messaging application, it takes control of your messages.
In most cases, messages are received via the internet and not a SIM card. The same goes for sending messages.
To solve this problem, you must turn off iMessenger on your old device. This is if you have access to your old device.
If you do not have access to your old device, you may have to log in to your apple online portal to resolve the problem.
How to deregister from iMessage
- Put your SIM card in your old iPhone
- Go to Settings
- Tap on Messages
- Toggle the button to turn off iMessage
- Go back to your Settings
- Tap on FaceTime
- Toggle the button to turn off FaceTime
- Eject your SIM card and put it back into your new phone
With that, you should have resolved any SMS issues caused by your old iPhone messenger.
Note: The problem with messaging on a new device can also occur if you have set any online messenger as default on the old device.
To avoid facing this problem, always change the settings when you change the device.
Solution #6 Call Freedom Mobile
If all the above solutions fail, your only hope is to call Freedom Mobile. There are situations when the problem lies with the system.
If the problem is with their system, your phone SMS might need to be reset.
