Why is My eufy Doorbell Offline?
The doorbell’s physical condition is often the answer to underlying issues with the connection and the consistency of the Wi-Fi.
A degraded doorbell battery, faulty wiring, or router issues can often lead to frequent connection losses of the eufy doorbell with no pattern or explanation.
Here’s why the eufy doorbell has gone or keeps going offline:
This can potentially cause the eufy doorbell to lose its Wi-Fi connection to the network.
Keep reading to explore expert troubleshooting solutions against the issue with your eufy doorbell.
How to Fix When eufy Doorbell is Offline?
It’s very easy to fix the “Offline” eufy issue. Just follow the steps below:
1. Reconnect the Doorbell to Wi-Fi
It may be possible that the eufy doorbell has temporarily lost connection to the Wi-Fi network and must be reconnected manually.
To determine if the “Offline” status results from a one-time connection loss, you must manually re-add the eufy doorbell to the Wi-Fi router network list.
How to Connect eufy Battery-Powered Doorbell?
- Open the eufy application on your mobile device.
- Tap on “Add Device” and select “Battery Doorbell.”
- Once prompted, scan the QR code on the doorbell.
- Follow the instructions to set up the eufy doorbell.
How to Connect eufy Hard-Wired Doorbell?
- Launch the eufy app on your Android or iOS device.
- Press on “Add Device” and select “Wired Doorbell.”
- Scan the QR code on the outer surface of the doorbell.
- Follow the remaining instructions to set up the eufy.
If the profile of the doorbell already exists, it will be automatically re-added and assigned with new settings.
If the setup procedure fails, delete the eufy’s profile and repeat the steps.
Alert: Verify that the doorbell is running while adding it to the application!
2. Power Cycle the eufy Doorbell
In case of a power malfunction, you can address issues with the eufy doorbell by conducting a power cycle of the hardware.
Hard-wired or battery-powered, the power cycle will discharge all electricity from the doorbell, and it can be achieved by temporarily suspending the unit’s supply.
How to Power Cycle a Battery-Powered eufy Doorbell?
- Take off the eufy doorbell from the wall mount.
- Press into the pinhole to release the battery tab.
- Lift the top to access the doorbell’s battery unit.
- Remove the battery from the doorbell and wait.
- After ~30 seconds, reinsert the doorbell battery.
How to Power Cycle a Hard-Wired eufy Doorbell?
- Deactivate eufy’s power supply at the circuit breaker.
- Remove the front panel of the doorbell from the mount.
- Next, uninstall the screws from eufy’s mounting bracket.
- Pull out the mounting bracket and remove the wiring.
- Wait for 30 seconds, re-knot the wires, and reinstall eufy.
If you don’t wait for at least 30 seconds after taking out eufy’s backup battery or disconnecting the batteries, the doorbell’s cache will not be cleared.
It is essential for eufy’s hardware to fully cool down before re-establishing contact with the power supply of the doorbell unit.
Alert: Do not attempt to touch eufy’s wires while the power is still active at the breaker!
3. Reinstall the eufy Mobile App
The doorbell might be losing connection due to an existing compatibility issue with the eufy mobile application.
To address issues with eufy, it is strongly recommended to uninstall the doorbell app and install it again to erase the cache and address problems with the file integrity.
How to Reinstall the eufy App On Android?
- Open the “Settings” app on the Android mobile.
- Navigate to the “Storage” or “Applications” tab.
- Scroll down and locate your eufy app in the list.
- Hold the app icon until the actions menu shows.
- After that, select the “Uninstall” option and wait.
- Download the eufy application from Google Play.
How to Reinstall the eufy App On Apple’s iOS?
- Locate the eufy app on the homepage of your iOS.
- Hold the app until the drop-down menu shows up.
- Press on the “Remove this app” section in the tab.
- Wait until the eufy app is removed from your device.
- Open the default App Store app on the iOS phone.
- Use the search field to download the eufy app again.
Reminder: Clear the cache of the eufy app once every 3–4 weeks for optimal performance!
4. Reboot the Network Router/Modem
The eufy doorbell might be losing connection due to an underlying issue with the network device in your setup’s configuration.
If that’s the case, you can quickly address the issue with the Wi-Fi by unplugging and then reconnecting the power cord of your network router or modem devices.
Note: If your router only has a Reset button, pressing it will cause all networks to go offline!
Here’s how to power cycle and reboot any network device in easy steps:
- Optional: Hold the network device’s power button.
- Disconnect the power cord from the router’s back.
- Next, unplug the other end from the electrical outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds for full power circulation.
- Reconnect the power adapter on both ends and test.
One More Thing – Equipment Inspection:
While the network router is discharging, inspect the condition of the power adapter and attempt to identify any physical defects with the cord.
A potentially malfunctioning power adapter or wire can cause the router to power off or reboot frequently, causing eufy offline status in your app.
Tip: For consistent coverage losses, contact your internet service provider.
5. Replace eufy’s Battery (Battery-Powered eufy)
In case of a failure with your eufy battery-powered unit, you can address any fault by replacing the battery with a brand new one.
Unlike hard-wired units with longer lifespans, the battery-powered eufy doorbell cannot function properly if the battery runs out.
Here’s how to replace the battery of a battery-powered eufy doorbell:
- Remove the front plate of the eufy battery-powered doorbell.
- Reach into the hole using a pointy and thin object (paperclip).
- Access the release tab and pull the compartment cover off.
- Eject the lithium-ion 5200mAh battery from the battery bed.
- Insert a brand-new, identical battery to recharge the doorbell.
The replacement battery for the eufy battery-powered doorbell must exactly answer the size of the battery compartment, otherwise the unit will not function properly.
Also, check the polarity fields to ensure the battery is positioned correctly in the compartment and avoid power issues.
Tip: The lithium battery has imprinted polarity files and guidelines!
6. Factory Reset the eufy Doorbell Unit
So, both battery-powered and hard-wired units are designed to factory reset identically through a control button on the back panel.
To access the button, you must uninstall the camera’s front plate without unscrewing the bracket and press the button.
Before performing a factory reset on the eufy doorbell, it is advised to save any recordings you wish to keep from being erased.
So, based on the doorbell configuration, find the recordings on a cloud eufy storage or extract them from an SD card.
Here’s how to factory reset both battery-powered and hard-wired eufy models:
- Unmount the faceplate of the eufy doorbell from the stand.
- Next, find the “Control” button on the back of the doorbell.
- After that, press and hold the button for ~10–15 seconds.
- Release the button and reinstall the doorbell in the mount.
Alert: Do not interact with the doorbell 1–2 minutes after the factory reset.
What Happens to eufy After Factory Reset?
- The factory reset will remove the eufy doorbell’s profile from the app.
- All stored recordings, settings, and configurations will be uninstalled.
When the eufy doorbell is reset, check whether you can connect to the internet.
If you still face issues and the doorbell is “Offline,” seek more assistance by contacting the eufy support team.
Quick Recap
Whenever the eufy doorbell is offline, reconnect the battery-powered/hard-wired unit to Wi-Fi, reboot the router, and reinstall the eufy router.
Also, replace the battery-powered unit’s battery and perform a factory reset.
