Why is My Phone Not Registered on Network EE?
To understand how to solve the EE registration error as soon as possible, we must identify the potential causes.
As clarified, the “not registered on network” error appears when your EE mobile has lost reception, the signal is weak, or something wrong happened with the mobile.
Here’s everything that can cause the EE registration error:

How to Fix “EE Not Registered On Network” Error?
Tip: Follow the steps in a consecutive order!
1. Soft-Reset the EE Mobile Phone
The first step is something simple, such as a soft reset, which won’t affect any of your phone’s settings or data.
This method will refresh the operating system of your EE mobile and reset the cellular connection, which might restore the functionality of your EE services.
To soft-reset your EE mobile device, hold the power button on the top or side panel, and when the power menu appears, choose to power off or shut down.
Wait for at least 60 seconds, during which your phone is completely turned off, and then hold the power button again to turn on the EE mobile.
This method is known as a power cycle, and in contrast to the simple restart, this approach is much more effective.
Tip: Feel free to soft reset your EE mobile when experiencing cellular issues!
2. Check for Ongoing EE Outages
The “not registered on network” error appears on many operators, not only with EE.
The error is proven to appear when you attempt to make calls or texts without being connected to the EE network or when your device doesn’t have a mobile signal/reception.
So, one of the most important steps to undertake early in troubleshooting is to check for any ongoing EE outages concerning your residential area.
If you don’t know how to check for EE outages, follow these steps:
- Acquire a device connected to the internet.
- Via web browser, go to EE Coverage Status!
- On the right, fill in your Postcode and Number.
- Then, press on the “Check Coverage” button.
- Check whether there is an ongoing EE outage.
Info: In case of an ongoing EE outage in your area, you won’t be able to make calls and texts until the issue is addressed.
3. Optimise the EE Service Signal
Sometimes, the reason why EE SIM not registered on network is due to a lousy service signal to your EE mobile.
You can immediately check whether your mobile is connected to the EE network by checking the cellular signal indicator on the top right or left of the mobile screen.
If you have 3 or 4 signal bars, your mobile is connected, and the service should work.
However, if you see only 1 or 2 bars, the EE reception to your device is very weak, which is why you see errors when making a call or text.
Here are a couple of good techniques to optimise the EE network reception:
- Remove the casing of your EE mobile.
- Don’t stay underneath metal objects.
- Move outside for signal improvement.
- Go out of basements or underground.
- If you’re in the mountains, climb higher.
If you’re too far away from a city, perhaps the cellular coverage is non-existent where you are, so you cannot use the services.
Tip: Some phones can lose reception due to the way they're being held!
4. Eject and Clean the EE SIM Card
If the cellular signal indicator on the top of your EE mobile shows “No Signal”, the EE SIM card in your device might not be recognised.
So, you’ll see the “not registered on network” error every time you try to send a message or make a call with no signal on your EE mobile.
If you’re unfamiliar with the SIM card cleaning process, read the steps below:
- First, acquire a SIM ejector, needle or toothpick.
- Then, reach inside the SIM tray pinhole and push.
- When the SIM tray comes out, eject the SIM card.
- Use a soft cloth to wipe away any dust/dirt buildup.
- Also, clean the device’s SIM tray from accumulation.
- Use the SIM’s cut corner to insert the card correctly.
- When you’re ready, gently insert the SIM tray within.
When you insert the SIM card, your device will attempt to recognise the chip, and when it does, you will be prompted to insert the SIM card PIN code.
The default PIN code for EE SIM cards is “1111”, so insert the PIN code to activate your card and check the cellular indicator on the top.

5. Configure the EE APN Settings
If the EE network error persists, you must verify that your mobile has acquired the APN settings correctly.
Sometimes, the APN (Access Point Name) settings are incorrect, preventing the entire network access, and manual intervention is necessary.
How to Access the APN Settings?
- Android: Go to “Settings,” locate “Connections,” enter “Mobile Networks,” press “Access Point Names,” and finally, tap on “Add a New APN.”
- Apple (iOS): Go to “Settings,” locate “Mobile Data,” and enter “Mobile Data Network.”
How to Set Up the APN Settings?
The guide below will show you how to configure the specific EE APN settings:
- Name: EE internet
- APN: everywhere
- Port: Not Required
- Proxy: Not Required
- Username: esecure
- Password: secure
- MMSC: http://mms/
- Server: Not Required
- MMS Port: 8080
- MMS Proxy: 149.254.201.135
- MNC: 30
- MCC: 234
If you don’t see any of these settings or if you see any other settings not listed above on your device, leave them blank.
Also, don’t forget to press the “Save” button when configuring the APN set settings.
Reminder: If you still don’t have EE signal reception, reboot your device!
6. Reset Your EE Phone’s Network
An excellent way to resolve any EE signal-related errors would be to reset the network settings on your EE mobile.
This method is exceptionally efficient but has a downside–all your wireless, Bluetooth, and Cellular settings will be permanently erased from your EE mobile.
Info: Those settings involve the remembered Bluetooth connections, the EE APN setup, saved personal hotspot settings and WiFi passwords.
How to Reset Network on Android?
- On your Android, first, go to the Settings.
- Next, navigate to the “System” menu tab.
- From there, discover the “Reset Options”.
- Select “Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth”.
- Your EE mobile phone will shortly reboot.
How to Reset Network on Apple?
- On your Apple device, open the Settings.
- From there, tap on the “General” section.
- Then, tap on “Transfer or Reset [Device].”
- Finally, select “Reset Network Settings.”
- Wait until the phone automatically reboots.
When you’re done with resetting the settings, you may have to insert the EE SIM card PIN once again and (if necessary) set up the APN settings again.
The bottom line is that after the network reset, you should be connected to the EE network, and you will no longer experience the error!
Note: The lost network settings can’t be recovered.
