Asking how Breezeline activate modem works? Stay with us, because we will review the complete guide on how to set up any Breezeline modem without any technical steps!
To activate a Breezeline modem, it’s necessary to first check whether all of the important cables and components are provided.
After that, connect the modem to power using an A/C power adapter and install the service (coaxial) cable.
Let’s learn more!
Can Breezeline Activate Own Modem?
Yes, in fact, Breezeline tends to have their users set up the modem, rather than technicians coming in to install the device for them.
The Breezeline network modem will power on itself and setup automatically, as soon as you’ve installed the service cable into the correct port.
Important:
Verify that you have all of the required equipment to start the setup. That includes the modem itself, as well as the peripheral wiring that is required for initializing the service!
- The Modem
- Ethernet Cord (Optional)
- A Coaxial Cable
- A Power Cord
- A Coax outlet
Although this is everything included and necessary for the setup, there are much more factors that are surrounding the installation process. All of them are described in the guide below!
Notice: All of the aforementioned items come included in the package box of the Breezeline!
Breezeline Activate Modem – Complete Steps!
Let us now understand how to activate the modem easily. Follow our instructions in their respective order!
1. Install the Breezeline Modem
We’ll start with the placement of your Breezeline modem as the device must be positioned near the necessary resources.
The modem must be in proximity of an electrical outlet as well as the service (coaxial) outlet, where you’ll install the supplied coaxial cable.
- Position your Breezeline modem in a suitable position!
In addition, check if all of the cables that must be connected will reach.
Measures the distances between your modem’s position and all of the outlets where you must install cables to determine whether their length is enough.
Tip: Cable Extenders!
If you’ve placed the modem in the only suitable position in your house and the cables still won’t reach, consider getting an applicable extender.
For example, there are A/C power cord extenders as well as coaxial cable extenders that will help with the installation.
2. Connect the Modem’s Power Cord
Now when your Breezeline modem is positioned and the next step is to deliver power to the network.
Using the supplied A/C power adapter that came along with the modem, you must deliver power to the modem from a wall outlet.
Here’s how to install the power cord of the modem:
- Plug the power cord’s connector (inner part) into the modem.
- Connect the other end of the cable (the outer part) to power.
- Wait for the LEDs of the Breezeline modem to light up.
Info: Check if the electrical outlet where you’ve connected the modem has a switch. If the outlet has a switch, make sure that it is set to “ON”.
3. Connect the Modem’ Service Cable!
The Coaxial cable is used for connecting the modem to the service, using the inner wall outlet of your house as the intermediary point with Breezeline.
If you’ve activated the Breezeline service, all of the service outlets in your house will contain their service at all times!
- The coaxial cable has an identical sleeve on either side!
Follow these instructions to install the modem’s coaxial cable:
- Locate the coaxial port on your Breezeline modem.
- Plug one of the cable’s ends into your network device.
- Connect the second end of the cable to the service outlet.
- Ensure that the cable is tightly connected on both sides!
Notice: Some coaxial outlets may have activation switches, which means that there’ll be no service in the outlet until the activation switch is flipped.
4. Wait for the Modem to Update
What’s so great about Breezeline modems is that they have the “self-installation” function.
Once the network device’s cables are installed and the Coax is also plugged in, the device will go into “update” mode.
- The update mode will check and update the modem to the latest firmware!
If the modem has made a connection to Breezeline, it’ll automatically upload the latest software version.
Fortunately, you won’t be partaking in the setup of your modem any further in terms of installation!
When is the Install Complete?
When your modem finishes the self-install, it’ll be usable for all Ethernet devices that’ll connect through an Ethernet cable to the device.
All you have to check in the meantime is whether your Breezeline internet subscription is active!
More About the Self-Install Process
The “self-install” process is a feature supported by most modern modem devices.
If the network device does not support WiFi, then there is no need for any further customization, after installing the service cable and the power adapter.
- How Does “Self-Install” Work?
The moment you’ve connected the modem to power and to the service outlet using a coaxial cable, the self-install will begin.
Note that this type of install is only available when your service is active and the modem is connected to the internet.
- How Long Does “Self-Install” Take?
The amount of time your modem “self-Install” would usually take is strongly estimated.
Based on the performance and speed of your internet, the firmware update during the self-install may take from 60 seconds, up to about 5 minutes.
Is My Modem WiFi Applicable?
Since Breezeline doesn’t offer modems of their own, their “approved” selection consists of both all-in-one network devices (gateways) and standalone modem devices that require a router.
Based on the type of your network, you’ll either be able or unable to host a WiFi network.
- You’ll only be able to host WiFi on an all-in-one modem/router combo!
Here’s how the WiFi situation with Breezeline modems is:
Tier | DOCSIS | Brand | Model | Device Type | Speed |
GigaFast | 3.1 | Arris | SB8200, SBG8300,S33 | Modem only(SBG8300 – gateway) | 1,000Mbps download speed |
UltraFast | 3.0 | Netgear | CM1000,CM1200,C7800 | Modem only(C7800 – gateway) | 1,000Mbps download speed |
Info: There are other compatible modems with Breezeline, such as Motorola and Hitron, but the primary brands delivered to users are modems manufactured from Netgear/Arris.
How to Host WiFi On An Applicable Gateway?
- Access the online GUI of the gateway.
- Use the sign-in credentials on the device’s sticker.
- Navigate to the “Network” or “WiFi” tab within the GUI.
- Press on the “Add WiFi Network” or the “Create” button.
- Follow the instructions to set up your WiFi network.
Info: You’ll have to set up the WiFi threads (GHz) according to the specifications of your router.
If the provided Breezeline gateway is dual-band, you can host two WiFi networks!
Connecting Ethernet Devices (Optional)
Your Breezeline modem/gateway has Ethernet ports, used for connecting devices directly into the device.
Wired internet is the best type of connection and it can be achieved by connecting your Ethernet-applicable device directly to the modem, using a cable.
How to Connect Device Directly to Breezeline Modem?
- Locate the Ethernet ports on both your device and modem.
- Get the Ethernet cable supplied along with the Breezeline unit.
- Connect the Ethernet cable both into your device and modem.
Note: All Ethernet cables have an in-built lamp that blinks when the connection is achieved.
Can You Connect Multiple Devices to Breezeline?
If your Breezeline modem has a single LAN port, you’ll be unable to connect more devices.
However, there’s a smart solution that involves purchasing an Ethernet Splitter that allows dividing a single LAN port into two or three ports. Get your LAN splitter now!
Quick Recap:
In this guide, we’ve learned that Breezeline activate modem is only possible after connecting the modem to power and to a service outlet.
After that, the modem will go into “self-install” and will upload the latest available firmware, and begin operating.
