Wondering what the Bell 4K receiver red light means? Stay with us to learn everything!
Bell’s Fibe 4K receiver includes a variety of indicator lights that flash in different colours to help users know what process the device is in.
When the red light appears, most users often assume the worst, but the truth is that it’s straightforward to solve!
The Bell 4K receiver often shows a red light when it is powering on or recording any content, however, this light will automatically go out after the process is over. When this red light stays on for too long, there might be a problem that has to be identified.
Now let’s learn more about the red light on Bell’s 4K receiver!
What Is Red Light On Bell 4k Receiver?
Occasionally, the red light will lead to trouble but not always, especially in the case of the Bell receiver.
The reasoning behind this is that a Fibe receiver will typically have a red light when powered on, and it will automatically turn green once it begins to work.
Furthermore, a red light will appear on the receiver while recording content. The red light will disappear after the recording is finished.
However, in contrast to the safety factors, other factors that might be an indication of an issue also usually result in red lights.
The following are the factors that often cause the red light on the Fibe 4K receiver:
- Faulty Ethernet Cable
- Loose Cable Connection
- Any unknown System Glitch
- Modem Bandwidth Spinning
- Signal Interference
- Bad Modem or Receiver
Before you call a professional, try the following easy steps to troubleshoot this red light!
Bell Fibe 4k Receiver Red Light? – Easy Solutions!
Since we now know what may trigger this red light on your 4K receiver, troubleshooting the device is really simple. Let’s first learn the most important factors!
Important: The red light is normal as long as it is not persistent.
Proceed with the solution guide only if the red light on your Bell 4K Receiver red light is there for more than 15 minutes.
Solution #1 Check The Ethernet Cable
It is obvious that the Fibe 4K receiver requires an internet connection from the modem that it’ll access via Ethernet cable.
When the cable goes bad, damaged, or loosely connected either from the modem or receiver end, then the red light begins to flash.
- In this case, you’ll also see a red X sign on your TV
Here is how to check the receiver Ethernet cable:
- First, make sure to unplug the receiver and the modem from the Power Outlet.
- Next, remove the Ethernet cable from the receiver and modem.
- Stretch the Ethernet cable and make sure both ends of the cable are not worn out.
- Replace your Ethernet cable if you find any fault in the cable.
- Connect the ethernet cable from the back to the modem and receiver.
Once you have properly checked the cable, then check for the red light on the receiver!
Solution #2 Reboot Your Receiver
We definitely need to attempt restarting the receiver and modem if you have already inspected the Ethernet cable and found nothing wrong.
Those systems can occasionally develop bugs that prevent devices from connecting to other devices so refreshing ALL services will help!
Here is how to reboot your receiver and modem:
- Switch OFF the Bell receiver by pressing the Power Button.
- Unplug the Fibe Receiver from the Power Outlet.
- Remove the ethernet and any other cables from the device.
- Wait for at least 3 minutes.
- Connect the cables back to the receiver port.
- Plug the receiver back into the power outlet.
- Switch on the receiver.
Note: Try rebooting your modem by unplugging it for 60 seconds!
Solution #3 Change Your Receiver Place
The devices may occasionally lose their ability to communicate with one another due to signal interference.
Therefore, if you have placed your Bell 4K receiver close to your TV, whether it is hard-wired or wireless, move it further away.
When you accomplish this, the Bell 4K receiver’s red light will turn off and it will be easy for it to connect with the TV.
Aside from the receiver, if there is any other smart device placed near the receiver, TV/console or modem then turn them off or place them away.
This will help with any existing interference and when you’re ready test your Bell 4K receiver for the red light!
Solution #4 Stop Modem Band Spinning
The receiver’s red light and the performance of your modem are very closely related.
The problems begin when the receiver is unable to obtain the proper internet speed from the modem, hence we’ll need to address this as well.
Your modem may be a problem if it supports dual-band spinning and the modem bandwidth just needs to be adjusted to fix the red light from the device.
Here is how to stop the modem band from spinning:
- Open a web browser on your PC.
- Type the “bell.ca/mymodem” in the address bar and tap Enter to go next.
- Input the admin in the username and password field on the Login prompt screen.
- Tap on OK to continue to access your modem settings.
- Find out Manage My WiFi and tap on it.
- Then, unmark the box from the top of the screen.
- The box is named “keep common SSID and Password same for both”.
- Next, edit the name of any band (2.4GHz and 5GHz).
- Press OK to save changes.
- Reboot the router and wait until the blue lights turn on it.
After you have completed all the above steps, check your Bell 4K receiver for a red light!
Solution #5 Reset Your Receiver
If you have already implemented all previously discussed methods but the receiver is still having red light then resetting your 4K receiver will fix the issue.
There is a chance that your receiver has network access but is disconnected from the TV due to an unknown bug…
A reset will help your receiver establish a strong connection with the TV and modem!
Here is how to factory reset the Bell 4K receiver:
- First, make sure the TV and receiver are turned on.
- Then press and hold the Power button from the receiver for 5 seconds.
- Wait until you see the pairing instructions on your TV screen.
- Make sure that the modem is turned on and working.
- Check if the receiver is connected to the modem via an Ethernet cable.
- Ensure that the receiver transmitter has a solid or flashing green light on it.
- Tap the WPS button on the transmitter within 2 minutes.
- The bottom will light up and then begin to flash.
- Wait for 2 minutes, and then tap the OK button from the receiver.
This should be enough to solve the red light, but in case the issue persists, keep reading!
