Solution #1 Reconnect your Device to the Internet
Perhaps, the Alexa profile is not showing up because of an internet problem!
What you should do as your first solution is to have your device reconnected from the internet, in case an issue with the WiFi has occurred.
Even if your device is already connected to a WiFi network or to cellular via Mobile Data, reconnect your mobile from the internet and check if the Household Profile would appear.
Let’s learn how to reconnect your device both from WiFi and Mobile Data!
Reconnecting from WiFi:
- Launch Settings on your device.
- Head to “Wireless”.
- Access the “WiFi” tab.
- Locate the network you’re already connected with.
- Press the “Info” button.
- Select “Disconnect”.
- Reconnect to the same network on your device.
Reconnecting from Mobile Data:
- Access the settings on your mobile device.
- Head to “Cellular”.
- Enter the “Mobile Data” tab.
- Locate the Activation Slider for the mobile data.
- Turn off the mobile data.
- Wait for 30 seconds.
- Turn on the mobile data again.
Alert: If using mobile data, make sure that your phone plan has enough Mbps!
Solution #2 Access Amazon with a VPN
Many users shared that they’ve managed to resolve this problem with their Amazon Alexa profile app by acquiring a VPN to alternate their real-time location.
Once you’ve selected the VPN you’ll be using, download it onto your mobile device and launch the application. Wait for the VPN to load and then go to “Servers” in order to select your new IP.
You should test with a location from Europe (if you’re from the US) and the other way around.
Feel free to test multiple locations and access the Amazon app from as many locations as possible to figure out if the problem has been resolved.
Once you’re done, however, make sure to disable the VPN and revert back to your original location for the rest of the guide.

Solution #3 Update the Amazon App

- On your mobile device, launch the App Store or Google Play (based on your OS).
- At the navigation panel at the bottom of the app, press “Manage Applications”.
- Wait to be taken at the list of installed applications.
- Scroll down or use the search field to locate the Amazon Alexa app.
- Once found, highlight the app and press “Check for Updates”.
- Wait for the update checker to conclude.
- (Optional) If there’s an update available, press “Update”.
Once the update of the app begins, do not cancel it until it has finished itself. It could be the cause for the formation of corrupted data with the Amazon Alexa app.
Tip: While in the settings of the Amazon Alexa app, enable ‘Automatic Updates’ for the platform!
Solution #4 Clear Amazon Alexa App Cache
Too much app cache could be causing problems with the functionality of the software!
What you should do is make sure that all of the generated app caches from the Alexa app on your phone are cleared and accounted for.
Especially using the app for too long, could be the prerequisite for piled up app cache.

- Navigate to the Storage section of the mobile settings.
- At the bottom navigation pad, press “Applications”.

- At the top-right corner of the page, press “Clear Cache”.
- Wait for the cache to be cleared.

Solution #5 Access Through a New Account
Perhaps, your Amazon account is to blame for the problem with the Household Profile!
What you should do in this solution, is either create a new Amazon account to access the app or use one of a family member, friend or one that you own, apart from your current one.
This way, you’ll determine whether the Alexa profile is related to the version of the app or to the account.
- Through a browser, head to Amazon Registration Taband create your new account!
From there, set a username, password, email and all personal info required, to establish your new Amazon account.
Once you’re ready with the new account, get your phone, access Amazon Alexa and sign out of your current profile.
After that, you’ll be able to test whether the Household Profile configuration is going to appear on your app when accessed with an alternative Amazon account.
Note: Make sure to revert back to your old account, once you’re done with the testing.
Solution #6 Reinstall the Amazon Alexa App!
One of the easiest ways to take care of this problem is to have the Amazon app reinstalled.
This quick way out of the problem is effective since it will restore all of the app’s settings to factory default, potentially eliminating any bugs that have recently occurred.
For this purpose, you must have access to the app store on your phone and know how to delete applications!
