The mesh system consists of multiple nodes, one of which is the “parent” router that hosts the Wi-Fi networks and connects with the extender “child” nodes.

What is the Velop Mesh Node Limit?
Remember that you can add up to 3 mesh nodes to your Velop system.
Hence, connecting a fourth node will not work unless you create another Velop network with its parental router and up to 3 individual mesh nodes.
- Operating multiple Velop networks is complex since you may need a second device with the Linksys application installed.
In addition, you will need an extra Ethernet port on your service modem to connect another Linksys mesh node network distributor (router).

1. Reboot Velop via the Power Switch
The most effective method to address non-lasting functionality issues with any node from the Linksys Velop mesh is to reboot via the power switch.
All compatible Velop nodes from the Velop system, including the router, have an integrated power switch on their bottom panel.
Hence, push the power switch to the “OFF” side and wait for 25-30 seconds while the device is powered off.
To re-activate the device, push the power switch to “ON,” wait ~15 seconds to start, and until your Velop connects.
Then, you can check if the disconnects will continue.
Bonus Tip: Power Cycle!
In addition to rebooting the Velop devices via the power switch, you could also power circulate the units by unplugging the power adapter.
The Velop parental node and all child nodes receive power through a direct adapter connection to an A/C outlet, so verify that the A/C source works!
- To power cycle a Velop unit, unplug the power cord from power for 60 seconds.

3. Check the Velop Router’s Connection
Velop by Linksys works because the parental node (the router) connects to your service modem via an Ethernet cable.

All Velop nodes require a single power adapter connection, while the router plugs into the service modem via an Ethernet cable.
How to Reconnect Velop Service Cable?
Here’s how to reconnect the Velop router’s service cable after identifying it:
- Unplug the Ethernet service cable from the back of the modem.
- Disconnect the other end of the cable from the Velop mesh node.
- Next, wait for 60 seconds while the service cable is disconnected.
- Reinstall the Ethernet cable back into the “Service” modem port.
- Plug the other end of the service cable into the Velop mesh node.
Alert: Inspect the Ethernet cable’s physical condition for damages while it is unplugged!
4. Reinstall the Linksys Mobile App!
The Linksys app connects all of the secondary “child” nodes, so when the Linksys Velop child node keeps disconnecting, removing and re-adding the app from your device is recommended.
The accumulation of cache or excess data files can entirely suppress the app’s functionality!
Here’s how to reinstall the Linksys mobile app in easy steps:
- Open the Settings on your mobile Android or iOS device.
