TalkTalk Landline Not Working – 6 Proven Solutions!
Tip: For maximum efficiency, follow our steps in a consecutive order!
1. Test the TalkTalk Landline Dial Tone
Diagnosing issues with the landline is only possible by dialling a specific TalkTalk-powered number on the connected phone.
As soon as the service number is dialled, the TalkTalk phone will start ringing, but there will be no caller, nor will you have sent a call to anyone.
- To test whether your landline has a dial tone, dial “1 5 7 1” in that order.
After pressing the “Dial” button, wait until the TalkTalk phone recognises the service numbers, and the device should start ringing within seconds.
If the dial tone is not audible, press the “+” volume button multiple times on the phone’s handstand to increase the output audio. If your TalkTalk landline is not working, continue reading!
2. Soft Reset TalkTalk Landline Phone!
To address temporal functionality issues with the TalkTalk phone, it is recommended to perform a power cycle.
The power cycle is a potent solution that will discharge the power supply of the landline phone and resolve underlying complications with the dial tone and the calling feature.
Here’s how to perform a power reset on the TalkTalk landline phone:
- Remove the TalkTalk phone from the phone handset.
- Disconnect the handset from the power outlet and wait.
- After 30 seconds, plug the handset into a power outlet.
- Finally, place the TalkTalk phone back onto the handset.
After placing the TalkTalk phone onto the handset, dial “1 5 7 1” and determine if you can hear the dial tone.
Remember that pressing the “-” and “+” volume buttons on the phone’s handstand increases and decreases the output volume of the set dial tone.
Tip: Dial the landline number through your mobile device for testing purposes!
3. Connect to a Different Service Outlet
Perhaps the TalkTalk landline phone isn’t working correctly due to an outage with the service outlet.
The phone jack must be securely connected on both ends for optimal functionality of the landline reception, but if the outlet is malfunctioning, your TalkTalk phone will also stop working.

The TalkTalk service uses a standard phone jack, while there are up to 4 types of different service outlets.
