We recommend that you follow these solutions in exact order carefully to resolve the error efficiently.
#1: Enable Hulu Recordings in Your Settings
If you have not tried using the recording feature on your Hulu account, you want to verify that it’s enabled. Hulu allows you to record specific shows or live events.
You need to set this correctly so you will be able to save shows and watch them later.
To enable recording on your Hulu account, here’s what you need to do:
- Open the Hulu app on your device.
- Choose the show or movie you want to record.
- On the Details page, look for the Record icon.
- Confirm it’s enabled by checking it’s a red circle.
- Set it to record.
If the Record icon is grayed out, you will need to tap on it and choose Record Series or Movie.
You want it to turn red, meaning the feature is enabled.
Tip: Repeat these steps for any other shows you want to record and save on your account.
#2: Verify That Your Recordings Are In Your My Stuff Section
Now that you have enabled recording on your Hulu account, you want to ensure they land in the My Stuff tab on your account.
You do this because Hulu recordings are not saved immediately to your account. There are instances when there is a delay, and glitches can occur here.
To verify that your recordings are saved in the correct folder, follow these steps:
- Launch the Hulu app on your device.
- Go to the My Recordings tab on the home screen.
- Search for the recording that you want to look at.
- If you just saved it, wait for a minute.
- Refresh the page or reopen the app if it’s not synced.
If the saved show can’t be found in the My Stuff section, you can filter the recordings by date, title, or even network to see if it’s in your content list.

There’s a limit to how many hours of content your can record on Hulu. It won’t alert you if you’re close to filling it. Instead, it automatically removes your oldest recording to save the latest one.
If some of your older recordings are not showing up, you need to check if you’re close to maxing out your Cloud DVR storage.
- On the Hulu app, go to the My Stuff tab.
- Tap on the Manage DVR tab.
- Scroll down to see how much storage you have left.
- If it’s close to 0, delete recordings you don’t need.
- Consider upgrading to get more storage.
If you find out, you have enough storage space and your recordings still do not appear, proceed to the next step.
#5: Your Recordings Have Expired
One of the factors that are often overlooked with Hulu recordings is their expiration dates.
Hulu’s policy states they will remove the content in your Cloud DVR after 9 months.
So, even if you have a lot of storage left, they will be deleted after expiration.
You can check the expiration date, and here’s how you do it:
- On your Hulu account, go to the My Stuff tab.
- Select the Manage DVR tab.
- Look for the recording you want to check.
- Find the date below the title of your recording.
So you don’t have to deal with recordings getting lost.
You must watch your saved content whenever you discover the date is closed.
#6: Confirm any Blackout or Regional Availability Issues in Your Area
If your Hulu recordings are not showing up, you want to ensure that Hulu’s service is not down. Blackouts can affect their available content, like live sports and news.
You want to ensure that none of these service disruptions can remove recordings from your DVR.
Here’s how to make sure that there are no service availability issues in your area:
- Open the Live TV Guide on the Hulu app.
- Navigate to the channel you want to record.
- Check if there are notifications about your program.
- Look for alerts that say “Off Air,” “Delayed,” “Preempted,” or “Blackout.”
Note: If the program did not air in your area due to a blackout, it would not appear in your recordings.
Blackouts are not common, so if you discover that you’re not affected, continue to the next step below.
#7: Verify That Your Show Is Not on a Break
There are times when you set your show to record and expect it to be on your recording list when you want to watch it.
When the show goes on a break and stops releasing episodes, no new ones will also be saved.
To verify that your show is not on a break, follow these steps:
- Go to the Hulu website.
- Search for the show you want to record.
- Tap on the show to see its details page.
- Open the episode list and check for upcoming episodes.
- Check if you see a message that says “No Upcoming Episodes”
Tip: If your show is on a break, you will need to wait until it returns or simply watch previous episodes.
#8: Clear Your Hulu App Cache or Offload It
