Configuring the Sparklight modem is a fairly straightforward process, but requires a few technical steps that you may need help with!
In this guide, we will walk you through the easy steps to set up your Sparklight modem!
How to Set Up Sparklight Modem – 7 Easy Steps!
Note: Follow the steps in order if you’re unfamiliar with the Sparlight modem setup!
1. Verify the Necessary Equipment
The first step is to unpack your Sparklight tool kit and gather the necessary equipment to begin setting up your Sparklight modem.
There are quite a few components that you’ll need to verify so this is the most important step to begin the setup process with.
The following items are required for Sparklight modem installation:
The coaxial cable is the service cable coming from the wall. The Ethernet cable is used to hook up your modem to an existing router or to one of your computers.
The power adapter and the power cable are, of course, the way your Sparklight modem connects to the electrical outlet.
Note: The Sparklight toolkit should contain all of the above-listed equipment.
2. Find a Suitable Installation Spot
The next step is to choose the best and most appropriate location for your Sparklight modem installation.
However, there are a few requirements to prevent any problems down the road.
It should be a central location in your home that is visible, off the ground, and away from obstacles that might cause interference.
Some of these obstructions could be walls, large metal objects, or other electronic devices that can impact the wireless signal of your network setup.
Note: When you find a central location with a wall outlet, place your Sparklight modem!
3. Connect the Coaxial Service!
The next step is to connect the “service” Coaxial cable that comes from the wall to the “coax” input on your Sparklight modem.
This will provide the model with the supplier’s connectivity. The Coax input on the modem is located beneath the Ethernet ports!
Simply connect the coaxial cable from the Sparklight toolkit to a wall outlet on your wall and the other end to the Sparklight modem.
This step requires no tools and you only need to connect.
Tip: Wiggle the Coax cable on both ends to verify that it’s securely connected.
4. Connect Sparklight to Power
The next step is to plug the main unit into a power outlet in order for the Sparklight activate modem process to commence.
The power equipment of the Sparklight modem consists of two separate parts – the power cable and the power adapter.
Here is how to connect the Sparklight modem to the power source:
- Connect one end of the power cord to the back of the modem.
- Info: The power input port is located on the very bottom part.
- Plug the opposite end of the power cord into the wall adapter.
- Then the power adapter plugs directly into the electrical outlet.
- Shortly, you will see flashing lights on the Sparklight modem.
- Then wait for up to 10 minutes to let the modem fully activate.
Important Note!
If your Sparklight modem continues to flash for more than 10 minutes, this is an indication that the modem has not been activated yet.
Simply plug your modem into a different wall outlet and wait 10 minutes for the lights on the modem to turn solid white, which means that it’s activated.
Note: When the Sparklight modem displays a solid white light, you’re ready for the next step!
5. Prepare WiFi Name & Password
You must have your Sparklight modem WiFi name and password ready before connecting to the internet.
Therefore, simply walk over to your modem, find the WiFi SSID and the password on a sticker on the side or back of the Sparklight modem, and note them down.
Note: These are the default WiFi SSID and password, hence they can be changed later!
