The following reasons could be preventing the Wyze Chime from functioning properly:
Why is the Wyze Doorbell Chime Not Connecting?
Well, if you’re certain that the chime turns on and receives a stable power supply, then the issue might be elsewhere.
So, here’s everything that can be responsible for chime connection faults:
- A weak or unstable Wi-Fi connection of the network.
- Insufficient distance from the Wi-Fi router or modem.
- The Wyze mobile application’s firmware is outdated.
Let’s solve all these problems in one go, shall we?
Wyze Doorbell Chime Not Working – 6 Quick Solutions!
Tip: We strongly recommend following the steps in their order!
1. Re-Add the Wyze Chime in the App
A solution that works without fail in solving issues with the Wyze chime is manually re-adding the device from the Wyze mobile app.
During installation, the chime must be discovered and added to the app by your smartphone to establish a connection with the Wyze Doorbell.
Follow these instructions to re-add the Wyze chime within the app:
- Launch the Wyze app on your mobile smartphone.
- Select the gear icon at the top-right of the screen.
- Next, go to “Accessories” and select the plus sign.
- Tap “Next” and ensure the Chime is receiving power.
- Follow the app’s instructions to re-add the Chime.
If the Wyze Chime profile already exists within the app, it will be automatically replaced with the new profile you’ve just submitted.
This is similar to restoring your chime to factory defaults, but keeps all of the application’s settings and only reboots the device.
Info: The steps above also work for a first-time Wyze Chime installation!
2. Configure the Wyze Chime’s Tone
If the chime remains silent upon pressing the Wyze doorbell, there could be a problem with the selected Wyze “tone.”
The Wyze application provides multiple tone selections, each sounding different, and allows the user to manually adjust the strength of the chime ring and its longevity.
Here’s how to reconfigure the tone of your chime within the Wyze app:
- Launch the Wyze app on your mobile Android or iOS device.
- Next, tap on the settings button at the top-right of the screen.
- Press on “Accessories,” select your chime and go to “Tunes.”
- Scroll down and select the preferred tune from the app section.
- Finally, test your Wyze chime’s tone by pressing the doorbell.
During the selection of the Wyze Chime’s tone, you will be able to hear the tone’s audibility by hovering over the tone within the menu.
After specifying the tone, your choice will be registered automatically and the Wyze Chime will be using that sound from now on until a change is made.
Tip: You can configure the sounding of your Wyze Chime through the “Tunes” tab!
3. Power Cycle your Doorbell Chime
If the doorbell does not turn on or seems to be powering off unexpectedly, a power cycle is a potent solution to any electrical fluctuations.
The chime powers off or reboots primarily due to inconsistency of the power supply or underlying faults with the conducting of the electricity.
Follow these instructions to perform a power cycle on the Wyze Chime:
- Unplug your Wyze doorbell from the supplying outlet.
- Wait for 35–40 seconds while the chime is unplugged.
- Reinstall the Wyze Chime into the same power outlet.
- Check if your chime’s indicator lights up after plugging.
To determine if the chime is receiving a stable power supply from the electrical outlet, check the indicator LED on the front.
It should light up and start pulsating in a blue color while the chime is attempting to establish a connection with the doorbell.
Note: The chime will only be connected automatically if there’s an existing profile within Wyze!
4. Address Issues with the Network
If the Wyze Chime periodically loses reception or fails to connect with your doorbell, there is a strong possibility of an issue with your local network or equipment.
Hence, to achieve proper functionality of the system, the chime must remain persistently connected to the Wi-Fi network.
Let’s review the best methods to address issues with your network!
Power Cycle the Network Router/Modem
A standard resolution to issues with the network is to power cycle your router or modem device by temporarily unplugging it from the power supply.
Keep the device’s power cord unplugged for at least 60 seconds and reconnect it to relaunch the network and Wi-Fi.
Reinstall the Network’s Service Connection
An underlying service connection issue may prevent the router or gateway from distributing the Wi-Fi coverage properly.
So, disconnect the Coaxial or Ethernet jack from the back of the network device and wait for at least 30 seconds before reconnecting it.
Restore the Network to Factory Defaults
The last but not the least helpful method is to restore all of your network devices to factory defaults, including your hosted Wi-Fi networks.
This is a standard procedure for eliminating faults with the connection, so find and hold the “Reset” button on the outer periphery of your router or modem.
Info: The reset button is typically in a small pinhole, requiring a sharp and pointy tool to press it!
5. Resolve Wyze Chime Power Issues
There are multiple possible methods to address power issues with the Wyze Chime in case of an electrical shortage or fluctuations.
If the chime powers off frequently and stays off without relaunching automatically, you likely won’t hear the ringing until further notice.
Here are the best methods to address power issues with the Wyze Chime!
Refresh the Electrical Outlet
If your outlet has a power controller, re-launch the outlet’s power supply while the Wyze Chime is still connected.
This is an excellent method to address electrical fluctuation issues caused by improper socket functionality.
Uninstall External Equipment
You should always plug the Wyze Chime directly into the electrical outlet and avoid connecting any external equipment such as power strips, dividers, or plugs.
Well, malfunctioning third-party equipment can have a significant impact on the doorbell’s responsiveness and chime’s ringing.
Alter Wyze’s Electrical Outlet
If the doorbell is still experiencing issues with the power, install the unit into an alternative outlet that’s proven to function properly.
The chime should immediately start up once connected with a responsive electrical outlet and your chime must start working.
Tip: Keep checking the indicator light of the chime to track the power status!
6. Restore the Chime to Factory Defaults
Forcing a factory reset on the Wyze Chime is an optimal solution to any connection, power, or startup issues the device has.
Before proceeding, note that the factory restoration will erase all settings of the chime, prompting you to set up the device initially once the process has ended.
Here’s how to perform a factory reset on the Wyze Chime easily:
- First, launch the Wyze app on your mobile smartphone.
- Go to “Settings” → “Wyze Support” → “Submit a Log.”
- Follow the instructions to prompt the chime’s restoration.
- Hold the physical “Reset” button on your Wyze Chime.
- Release the button on the Wyze unit after 3–5 seconds.
- Wait until your chime announces “Reset Successfully.”
- Complete the chime’s setup within your Wyze platform.
If the chime powers off or reboots during the reset, all progress of the procedure will be lost, and you must start from the beginning.
Verify not to press any buttons during the factory restoration!
Quick Tip: If your chime is not working even after a factory reset, check the device’s warranty!
Quick Recap
If the Wyze Doorbell Chime not working, eliminate issues with the chime’s power supply, optimize your network, and re-add the chime from the app.
If the fault is still there, force a factory reset on your network device and the Wyze Chime.
