7 Reasons Why Belong Data Not Working?
Dealing with unreliable or poor network connections can be very frustrating.
Luckily, several ways exist to address this data problem, but you must understand the underlying causes first.
Here’s a list of all possible causes for Belong mobile data issues:
Now that we know the reasons let’s move further and jump into troubleshooting…
How to Fix When Belong Mobile Data Not Working?
The troubleshooting will be straightforward if you follow the steps correctly!
1. Restart Belong Mobile Phone
In most cases, the cellular data won’t work due to an issue with your phone’s software, battery level and even temporal software or network bugs.
In such a case, restarting your phone is one easy and very effective fix to clear out all problematic issues and refresh the carrier network.
Use the following steps to restart your Belong mobile phone:
- Locate the Power button from the side.
- Long press and hold the power button.
- Wait until you get the “power menu” tile.
- Move the slider to or select “Power off.”
- Keep your mobile “OFF” for 60 seconds.
- Press and hold the same Power button.
When your phone turns on completely, enable the mobile data and test your Belong internet!
2. Toggle Airplane Mode ON/OFF
Sometimes, a temporary glitch or signal interference in the network communication can prevent your mobile data from working.
Therefore, toggling Airplane Mode on and off allows your phone to re-establish the connection with the nearest cell tower by clearing the potential interference.
Here’s how to toggle the Airplane Mode on Android and iOS:
- On your phone, swipe down from the top.
- This will reveal the notification panel tab.
- Find the Airplane Mode icon on the screen.
- Tap the Airplane Mode icon to turn it “ON.”
- Then, wait for at least 10, up to 15 seconds.
- Tap the Airplane Mode icon to turn it “OFF.”
After you’re done, give your phone a moment to reconnect to the Belong mobile network.
Once you see the usual network bars or signal indicator return, turn on the mobile data.
Then, try to surf online or stream to check if the internet is back.
Reminder: If you forget the Airplane Mode “ON,” none of your device’s networking will work!
3. Optimise Your Mobile Coverage
Another possibility can be that the issue may not be with your phone but could be related to your location and the mobile coverage in that area.
If you are in an area where the Belong network has weak coverage, especially in busy areas, this can lead to connectivity problems.
To identify if that’s the case, do the following:
Check the cellular signal indicator on the top left or right of your mobile device’s screen.
If you have 2 bars or fewer, it means you have feeble signals. Additionally, check the Belong Network Coverage in your area; if it’s poor, try optimising it.
Here is how you can optimise your Belong mobile coverage:
- Move to a more open location for a better signal.
- Don’t stand under any covers or metallic objects.
- Go out where the sight with mobile towers is clear.
- Move to higher positions to boost your reception.
Note: If you are outside a city, in a mountain or forest, know that signal reception may be poor, and you won’t be able to use the mobile data.
4. Check Your Data Usage Limit
Belong service providers automatically send an SMS to inform you that you have no remaining data.
There is a high chance that you may not have read the message or unintentionally deleted it, and now you have no data remaining, causing mobile data not to work.
Here’s how to check the remaining Belong mobile data:
- Launch the Belong app or the official Website.
- Enter your username and password and log in.
- Move to the “Dashboard” in the app or website.
- Check the remaining mobile data in the allowance.
Note: If you've run out of data, your speed will be slowed to a maximum of 1 Mbps!
5. Reseat and Clean the SIM Card
If your Belong mobile data is still not working, maybe your phone is not recognising the SIM card chip in your device.
In such cases, the cellular indicator will show a “No Signal” message, and you won’t be able to call, send text messages or use the Belong internet data.
The solution is simple, reseat and clean the SIM card in your Belong mobile!
To reseat and clean the Belong SIM card, follow these steps:
- Find the SIM tray on your mobile’s side.
- Get a paperclip and click into the pinhole.
- This will pop out the tray from the mobile.
- Then, carefully take out the SIM card tray.
- Remove the SIM card from the cardholder.
- Clean the SIM card/tray with a soft cloth.
- Finally, reseat the SIM card into the tray.
Note: Check for any severe scratches on the chip of the SIM card!
One More Thing – Try Another Mobile Device!
To isolate the issue, insert your Belong SIM card into another compatible mobile device.
If the data works on the alternative device, the problem may be with your original phone or SIM tray.
6. Adjust the Mobile’s APN Settings
The APN settings act as a bridge between the mobile device and the Belong’s network services.
There’s a possibility that the APN settings on your mobile are incorrectly configured, leading to connectivity issues and the inactivity of your mobile data.
To adjust the APN settings, follow these steps:
- Go to your phone’s Settings menu.
- Look for the Mobile Network option.
- Press on the Access Point Names.
- Select “Add” or “New APN” to create.
- Then, configure the APN settings as:
- Name: Belong MMS
- APN: Telstra.internet
- MMS Proxy: 10.1.1.180
- MMSC: http://mmsc.mdata.net.au:8003
- APN Type: MMS
- MMS Port: 8080
- MMC: 505
- MNC: 01
- MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
- Authentication Type: Leave blank
- APN Protocol: IPv4/ IPv6
- APN Roaming: IPv4/ IPv6
- Bearer: Unspecified
Note: Tap the “More” menu and Save the settings before returning to the home screen!
7. Reset the Network Settings
If you’ve tried all the steps, but the Belong mobile data is still not working, you must reset the network settings on your device.
So, doing this will permanently erase all potential glitches or misconfigurations, remembered Bluetooth sources, and APN configuration on your mobile.
Here is how to reset the network settings on your mobile:
How to Restore the Network on Android?
- From the home screen, open the “Settings” app.
- Go down and press “System” → “Reset Options.”
- Next, choose “Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth.”
- Confirm the action by tapping on “Reset Settings.”
How to Restore the Network on Apple?
- Open the “Settings” application and go to “General.”
- Then, select the “Transfer or Reset [Device]” tab.
- Press “Reset” and then “Reset Network Settings.”
- Input the iOS Passcode to continue with the reset.
If the issue persists after trying all these solutions, don’t hesitate to contact Belong’s Support team for more help. Good Luck!
Note: Remember that the reset might take up to 5 minutes, and once ready, your mobile device will reboot, and network settings will be reset to default.
Quick Recap:
Hence, when your Belong mobile data not working, restart the phone, toggle the Airplane Mode on and off and move to higher locations to optimise the signal strength.
If the issue persists, check for outages, reinsert the SIM card and adjust the APN settings manually.
