When your Wemo app is not running on the correct and recommended network, you will always have problems such as Wemo Mini not being detected.
To check if it is on the right network, kindly go to your router’s settings and check if the network therein is 2.4GHz. If it is on 5.0GHz, your app will have issues running.
If, after changing the settings, the issue is still there, you can power cycle your router.
Unplug it from its inlets and the power source, then allow it some time to rest, around 30 seconds. Plug it back in and see if the issue resolves.
If not, you can try changing the connection. Your router might be having the issue, and a different one will help you know if that is the case.
If you still see your Wemo mini smart plug connects but not detected on the app after trying the above processes, you can do something different.
Unplug the switch, then try plugging it again.
As you unplug, then replug it, the device reconnects to the Wi-Fi after resetting. So, it fixes any bug that is causing your device issues.
If your device has functionality issues, it will affect the mini plug and not be detected.
You can always confirm if this is true by checking your device anytime the app detects the Mini or the smart plug.
When you see an amber light blinking while setting it up, you will need to start the setup process again. As you know, the amber light shows that your device is having difficulties trying to connect to the Wi-Fi.
The first thing to do is to reboot or restart the device. Simply close the Wemo app on your phone, then turn off the light switch. Turn on the switch, then restart your Wemo app.
After restarting your device, it would be best you go through the setup process again. If the network is stable and the configuration is complete, the orange light will go, and your device should work well again.
One best way to correct any issues on your Wemo device is to power cycle it.
