When you notice that your Straight Talk International plan isn’t working, first check if your international calling access is blocked. Then, double-check if your caller ID isn’t set to private. Ensure that the international plan is boarded or added to your account, and then try doing an international call again via the correct process.
In anticipation of fixing this problem, let’s first discuss some of the reasons why this facility isn’t working as you expected it to be.
Whether the Straight Talk International app is not working or you’re just unable to make phone calls, here are a couple of the culprits on why the international calling feature is not working:
- There’s an ongoing network outage
- International calling access is currently blocked
- Privatize is enabled and turned on (caller ID block or private)
- You’re dialing the international number incorrectly
- The mobile app isn’t configured properly
- The mobile app is not up to date
It could be one or more of these reasons, so, determining it would be a needle in a haystack.
Therefore, in approaching this problem, we would have to address it completely – we need to try to solve it by starting from what the possible root cause is!
Without further ado, let’s head right to the guide!
Since it will be a challenge to determine what the cause is, we made this guide to address all possible dilemmas and problems that could be the reason why the service isn’t working.
By default, most, if not all mobile service providers disable or block international calling to avoid any accidental international dialing on their phones.
So, to check if your international calling feature is enabled or activated, contact Straight Talk’s client support team and inquire.
You’ll have to prepare a few account-related information for them to validate your account, and this can include at least two (2) of the following:
- Account Number
- Amount of Last Payment
- Billing Cycle Date
- Current Plan You’re On
- Amount Due
Another thing that could be restricting you from making outgoing international calls would be when you set your caller ID to private.
This is Straight Talk’s term for blocking caller ID on a phone, and if this is enabled, you really wouldn’t be able to make international calls.
This is usually something that can be toggled within your smartphone, so double-check if you have it turned on or activated.
You’ll usually find it in the Phone App settings by accessing Phone > Menu > Caller ID/Other Call Settings.
Many people didn’t know this, but there are several phones that aren’t compatible with the international calling of Straight Talk.
It could be because the phones have a caller ID block or it’s privatized or the service isn’t just available. To check this, contact Straight Talk and mention Phone Compatibility For International Calls.
From here, you can tell them what device you’re using to make international phone calls and they can assist you on how to make it work.
It could be a simple mistake, but a lot of people fail to check if they’re under a Straight Talk International plan.
You have a few different options to check this: via calling Straight Talk’s customer support or via your Straight Talk online profile.
Should you be not under an international plan, you can purchase it through the Straight Talk website or by calling customer support for them to activate it directly on your line.
And lastly, you could be dialing international numbers wrong. Here’s a quick and simple summary of how you can make an international call:
Dial the access number:
- For Straight Talk Home Phones: 646-982-0992
- For Straight Talk Mobile Phones: 410-635-5555
After dialing these access numbers, we’re now ready to go to the next step, which is…
- Enter 0-1-1-country code-city code-destination number.
- At the end of the string, enter the # sign.
- It should ring and you should reach the international number you’re trying to dial.
If you don’t want to type it in every time, use the Straight Talk International app!
By following this 5-step procedure religiously, your Straight Talk International service should work! Within five minutes, you should be able to call internationally without seeing expensive and absurd charges on your bill!
Should you be encountering problems while using the app, here are some further troubleshooting steps you need to do.
