We’ll not give you a general guide, we’ll be in-depth, complete with all the step-by-step details! It’ll be a walk in the park!
If your Sky Live Pause is not working, power cycle your box completely. After that, perform a Planner Rebuild of the box where the Live Pause isn’t functioning properly. Then, perform a Full System Reset of your box. Lastly, hard reset your hard drive to rid it of all drive problems.
Before fixing it, it will be imperative to get a full understanding of the reason why the Live Pause is not available on Sky.
Many people like to assume that their devices are the ones at fault when this happens – and that it would be unfixable. It is partly true, except for it being unfixable.
There’ll be random times and moments where you’ll find it inoperable. But why and when do these instances happen?
What makes the Live Pause feature not work?

These are the reasons why your Sky Live Pause is not available. Should it be a broadcast issue, then you shouldn’t worry because it might just have been a temporary glitch within the Sky network.
However, if it’s anything but that, there’s something that needs to be done.
So, how do we fix this problem if we are unable to find the root of it in the first place?
How to Fix Sky Live Pause Not Available?
Unlike other guides you’ll find online, ours would be different. It will be unique because we wouldn’t give you a general tutorial.
Instead, we’ll supply you with accurately detailed information all the way through.
Since the pausing facility is done via the remote, you need to ensure that the remote is fully functional. You want to do a comprehensive check of the clicker, not just the batteries.
Here’s how to do just that:
- Remove the remote’s batteries.
- While it’s deactivated, press each of the buttons three (3) times.
- This releases any debris that could be stuck in between the keys.
- Install a new pair of batteries on the remote.
NOTE: This method is especially effective when your clicker is more than two (2) years old.
After that, what you want to do next is to power cycle or restart your box.
To do this:
- Press [STANDBY] on your Sky box or on the clicker.
- After that, unplug the box from power at the mains.
- Ensure that no lights are present on the box.
- Wait for one (1) to two (2) minutes before plugging it back in again and turning it on.
NOTE: Don’t just turn it off. Make sure to drain all electrical charges that could have been stored at the unit’s capacitors.
Sky’s Planner Rebuild is the go-to solution for clients whenever they’re having trouble with anything related to recording. This includes pausing and rewinding.
- On your Sky remote, press Services.
- From there, choose Help.
- Use the arrow keys to highlight Sky+ Planner Rebuild.
- Press Select to confirm.
- Wait for the Confirm Banner to change to Housekeeping Please Wait.
- It should automatically turn off after the process.
If it does not turn off after five (5) minutes, turn the box off and unplug it at the mains for about four (4) minutes.
NOTE: Planner Rebuilds won’t delete or erase anything from your planner. It would stop any actions that are in progress, though and it will reboot the box.
Once that’s done, perform a Full System Reset of your Sky box. This is an option that’s taken as the last resort for problems that aren’t fixable by a Planner Rebuild.
So, to do a Full System Reset, follow these steps:
- Press Services on the clicker.
- Then, highlight Settings and press 0-0-1 to access the secret menu.
- From there, highlight LNB Setup > Full System Reset.
- You’ll see Housekeeping Please Wait on the banner and wait for the process to finish.
If it doesn’t, turn the box off and unplug it from power at the mains. Then, at about five (5) minutes, plug it back in and try again.
NOTE: A Full System Reset is like defaulting everything back when you first received the box.
Since a major part of this involves the box’s hard drive, resetting the hard drive is also a known solution to this problem.
Here’s how to do a hard reset of your hard drive:
- On your remote, press [HOME].
- Then, highlight Settings and press 0-0-1, and press Select.
- Navigate to Reset, then select Reset Hard Drive.
- On-screen instructions on what you have to do will appear.
- Press [STANDBY] on your Sky box after the instructions.
Wait for the system to reinitialize before trying it out again.
According to most users, a simple reboot or restart of the system often does the trick.
However, if the odds aren’t in your favour and the problem persists, finish the guide up and expect the Live Pause feature to be working seamlessly again!
In the event that the problem is still persistent even after following the guide to the brim, the issue could be with your box or your remote.
The next best thing to do in this situation is to contact Sky’s customer support team.
Let them know about the problem, give them the situation in full. In addition to that, informing them of the guided steps you’ve done will also be helpful.
This way, they won’t repeat the troubleshooting procedures already accomplished, leading to a faster and more urgent resolution.
