Seeing your Sky Talk caller display not working can really be a pain in the neck.
And a lot of us immediately point fingers when we experience it. But, what really are the concrete reasons why it fails to work?
Why is My Caller Display Not Working on Sky?
Sky shouldn’t always be the one to blame. In fact, the problems from their end are less than half of the possible reasons.
Here are some of the most customary causes of why caller ID or caller display isn’t working on your Sky home phone:
- The caller has his/her number withheld
- The call made or received is international
- Your handset/phone does not support caller ID
- Issues and problems from Sky’s side
NOTE: All Sky Talk packages have Caller Display and it’s free of charge.
Now that we know the common reasons why your Sky Phone caller display is not working, how do we fix it?

Sky Caller Display Not Working – Complete Fix Steps
In this process, we will give you the complete list of steps you can do to make your caller ID work again.
Step #1: Check if Your Equipment Supports Caller ID or Caller Display
The first thing to check is if your phone/equipment is able to support caller display or caller ID.
While many modern landlines have it by default, there are still phones that don’t support this feature.
How Do I Check It?
You can check it simply by going over the phone’s settings. On your handset, navigate to Setting and then select Call Features and Functionalities.
Alternatively, you can do this by checking the manual or the guide that came with the phone.
Double-Check the Set-Up of Your Home Phone
The next thing you want to do is to check and see the set-up of your phone. Is it properly set up?
Are the wires and cables connected properly? Is it connected to the correct coaxial jack/port in the house?
You might be surprised that as little as a loose connection can cause a lot of problems when it comes to the usage of your phone.
So, make sure that the setup of your phone is correct in the sense that all cables and wires are plugged in and connected properly to their respective ports.
NOTE: You can detach and reattach all connections to the landline. This way, you know that everything is plugged right in correctly and properly.
Step #2: Check the Number Involved
Caller display is a feature that needs to be available on both ends of the call – not just one.
If the number calling you is withheld or if it’s from a foreign country, then it wouldn’t really support caller ID.
It’s also important to note that not all regions and areas are supported by caller ID. For this, you need to contact Sky and ask about it.
Ensure that the number you were in contact with is eligible for it. You can do this by following these steps:
- Dial 1471 on your Sky Talk home phone.
- List the number down, and then call it using a different device.
NOTE: Using the 1741 functionality would not have any additional charges.
Step #3: Plug Your Landline Into a Different Wall Socket (Coaxial and Power)
Then, what you want to consider doing next is to try plugging the landline into different power and coaxial sockets.
You should have more than one (1) in your home and doing this particular step should be easy.
Here’s the process of how it’s done:
- Unplug all cables and wires connected to the home phone.
- Remove both the coaxial and power cable from its connection to the wall.
- Find a spot where you can connect and plug both cables in.
- Ensure that they’re both connected securely.
- Wait for three (3) to five (5) minutes before trying it again.
Step #4: Connect a Signal Filter
After that, you want to consider plugging or connecting a signal filter between the telephone line and the home phone.
What this does is help remove unwanted features from a signal being sent and received from one (1) device to another.
Installing it is easy:
- Remove the phone cable from the wall jack/outlet.
- Then, plug the port filter into the main outlet.
- With the other end of the filter being open, plug the telephone cord into it.
NOTE: You can purchase dual-port filters if you want your modem and your phone to be plugged into the same jack/port.
Step #5: Contact Sky to Remove and Re-Add the Caller ID or Caller Display Feature
Last, but most definitely not least would be done on Sky’s end.
What you want to do in this scenario is to contact them to help you remove the caller display feature on your account, and then re-add it back again after 24 hours.
Don’t overthink it – it is as simple as that. Dial Sky, tell them about your dilemma and then inform them to temporarily take the caller ID feature off of the account, and then re-add it after 24 hours.
This will refresh your account in case a bug or any type of error is present.
That’s just about it. That is how you make caller ID/caller display work again on your Sky Talk.
Whatever brand your handset is from, so long as it’s equipped with caller ID, you shouldn’t be getting any problems from it any longer.
My Caller Display is Still Not Working, What Should I Do?
Make sure that you follow all these steps with accuracy to guarantee effectiveness.
But, if the problem still persists and you aren’t able to resolve it, reach out to Sky’s technical support.
Let them know that caller identity isn’t working for you even after the steps we detailed above. They’ll send out a technician to your location if they deem it necessary.
NOTE: Detail the steps you’ve done so they know what to do next. This will also help you avoid doing the same things again.
