Is your Harmony app not finding hub problems frustrating you? Luckily you’re reading the right blog as we have the solutions you’re looking for!
It can get annoying after some time, especially if it’s been working perfectly for some time.
Now, when your Harmony app suddenly cannot find your hub, you will not be able to control any of your devices with it.
To fix your Harmony app’s link with your hub, the first thing you want to try is to restart your devices. Make sure that your phone and hub are connected to the same network. Performing an advanced scan also helps as it prompts the app to scan all the possible IP addresses for your hub.
Now that you have a good idea of what we’re dealing with let’s start identifying the causes of this issue before we attempt to fix it.
Why Is Harmony App Not Finding My Hub
If your Harmony app does not detect the hub at all, you’ll need to figure out what’s causing it, so you’ll know the exact steps to take to fix it.
We recommend checking your network connections and the software versions as these can be a source of the error.
Let’s take a look at the possible issues that could have occurred with your Harmony setup
1. Not On The Same Network
You should connect the phone with the Harmony app and the hub to the same network. You will need to watch out for this if you use a dual-band router.
2. Connectivity Issues
Your phone can suffer from temporary connectivity issues, especially WiFi and Bluetooth. Make sure you check them as they can cause this particular problem.
3. Outdated Software
If both the Harmony app and hub are not updated regularly, they can suffer from incompatibilities that will make it hard to connect.
4. Hardware Malfunction
Damaged hardware, especially the WiFi or Bluetooth modules, will prevent your app from connecting with the hub.
These are the possible issues that could be affecting your Harmony devices.
Now that you know the different troubleshooting paths to take, we can now move to get this problem resolved!
How to Fix Harmony App Not Finding Hub
One of the safest and quickest first steps to take is to reboot your devices. Now, this is going to include your phone and the hub.
Turn them off simultaneously and unplug your hub for at least a couple of minutes.
Turn them back on and see if they connect. If they do, you’re in luck since you don’t have to attempt these other steps.
However, if the issue persists, don’t panic. We still have a lot more steps you can do that will resolve this issue in no time:
Solution #1: Toggle WiFi and Bluetooth On Your Phone
If a restart does not eliminate the problem, let’s zoom in on your phone’s connections.
Your phone’s WiFi and Bluetooth software controllers can malfunction and not detect the hub on the app. If this is the case, you will want to refresh them so they can reconnect to the network.
Here’s how to refresh WiFi and Bluetooth on your phone:
- Open Quick Settings or Control Center by swiping down on your screen.
- Look for the WiFi icon and tap on it to turn it OFF.
- Wait for a few seconds.
- Tap the WiFi icon again to turn it ON.
- Do the same steps for Bluetooth.
Pro Tip: You can also toggle Airplane Mode ON and OFF in Quick Settings or Control Center to fully refresh your connections.
Solution #2: Connect the Harmony Hub and App to the Same Network
Dual-band routers usually have multiple connections available by default. They’re essentially the same as an internet source. Technically, though, they’re not going to be the same network.
Make sure that you’re connecting your phone and the Harmony Hub to the same one so they can detect one another.
Here’s how to connect your Harmony app device and Hub to the same network:
- Open the MyHarmony software on your computer.
- Select Settings, then Change network settings.
- Make sure that your hub is turned on.
- Wait for your hub to scan the available networks.
- Select the WiFi network and enter the password.
You will need to connect to the same network you just connected to your Harmony Hub on your phone.
Here’s how to do it:
- Go to your phone’s Settings app.
- Select Network Connections or WiFi.
- Choose the WiFi name you connected your hub.
- Enter the password to connect.
Tip: Make sure that you connect on the 2.4 GHz WiFi frequency as the Harmony Hub is more tuned in to using it than 5G WiFi.
Solution #3: Force Close the Harmony App on Your Device
It’s also possible that you’re dealing with an issue with the Harmony app. Minor bugs and glitches can disrupt how the app connects to the hub.
In this case, you will need to perform a force close on the app to refresh it.
Here’s how to force close the Harmony app on your phone:
- Go to your Android phone’s Settings app.
- Select Apps or Manage Applications from the menu.
- Scroll to find the Harmony app from the list.
- Tap on it and press the Force Stop button.
Note: For iPhones and iPads, all you need to do is swipe up from the bottom of the screen and find the Harmony app preview. Swipe it up towards the edge of the screen to close it.
Solution #4: Perform an Advanced Scan with the App
Your Harmony app offers you different ways to connect with the hub.
If none of the usual modes work, you can perform an advanced scan that searches for possible IP addresses that your hub is assigned to.
Here’s how to do an advanced scan on your Harmony app:
- Go to the Connect to Hub screen on the app.
- Wait for the hub to appear for about a minute.
- If it doesn’t appear, tap on the ? icon.
- Select the Advanced Scan option.
Note: If you have configured your router to assign a static IP to your Harmony Hub, you can manually type it in.
Solution #5: Perform a Manual Bluetooth Pair
If the advanced scan method does not find the hub, you can also perform a Bluetooth pair.
This is a more manual method that allows both devices to identify each other and share network configurations.
Here’s how to perform a Bluetooth pair:
- Go to Can’t Find Hub on your Harmony app.
- Tap on Connect Manually.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your device.
- Press the Pair/Reset button on your hub.
- Wait for the pairing process to complete.
Note: After pairing your phone and the hub successfully over Bluetooth, you can go to the Connect to Hub screen to connect the devices over WiFi.
Solution #6: Update Your Harmony App and Hub Firmware
If you have not updated your Harmony Hub’s firmware for a while, you’ll need to do it immediately. It’s easy to update your Harmony app since it will be on your phone.
Updating it is as easy as pressing the notification button.
However, when the versions of both the app and the hub are too far away, there may be incompatibilities that could affect its performance.
Here’s how to update your Harmony Hub firmware:
- Open the MyHarmony app on your computer.
- Connect the Harmony Hub to your computer via USB.
- Click on Sync to start the process.
Note: If you have a Harmony Remote, you can also do it by going to Settings and selecting Sync Remote.
If none of these steps help you resolve your issue, you can contact Logitech Harmony customer support for additional assistance.
They should be able to determine if your device needs repair, replacement, or more advanced troubleshooting.
