Method #1 Transfer the Recordings Locally
The more complex but much less costly method to transfer recordings made on your Fetch box is to access Fetch through a local computer and download the recordings.
For this purpose, you will require a media player such as VLC or KODI, a compatible browser and a computer.

Step #1 Pair the Devices to the Same Network
“Local Downloading” suggests that both of your devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network to create a suitable environment for file transfer.
- To check Wi-Fi on a Fetch TV box, go to Menu → “Manage” → “Settings” → “Network” → “Wi-Fi” and check if one of the displayed networks has a “Connected” status.
- On Windows and Mac, tap the Wi-Fi icon on the toolbar and check if you’re connected to the same network and Wi-Fi thread as the Fetch TV box.
Note: To reconnect the Fetch box, highlight a new network and press “OK.”

Here’s how to access Fetch’s recordings via the VLC Media Player:
- Launch the VLC Media Player on the computer or laptop.
- Press on “Universal Plug n Play” under “Local Network.”
- Next, select the IP address starting with “STB” at the top.
- Double-press the “Recordings” folder within the directory.
- Choose a recordings folder throughout the FTA folder.
- Next, right-click a recording and press on “Information.”
- Copy the recording file’s web address under “Location:”
- Finally, paste it into your browser and start downloading!
Based on the recording’s quality and continuity, a single episode of your TV show or a full-length movie can have a size of up to 7-8 GBs.
Once the download is complete, press the folder icon next to the file in the browser’s “Downloads” page and launch the VLC recording file.
Note: All files must be viewed on your computer under your media player’s format!

Step #1 Set Up the Mobi App
The first step is downloading and installing the Mobi app on your mobile device and signing into your user account to link with your Fetch box.
The platform is available for both Android and iOS devices in the Australian region, so you should be able to find it with a quick app search.
- To download Mobi on Android, open the Google Play Store and search “Mobi.”
- To download Mobi on iOS, open the App Store and search “Mobi” in the search.
Once the app is installed, you must sign in via your Fetch ID. Here’s how to find it:
- Go to the “Menu” tab on your Fetch TV box.
- Highlight the “Manage” section from above.
- Navigate to the “Settings” tab from the page.
- Next, access the “Mobile & Tablet” section.
- Select the “Show Fetch ID” within the tab.
Once you have the required Fetch ID, enter the digits within the Mobi app to gain access to your account.
After that, the app will automatically start syncing your Fetch TV box’s content.
Notice: Use the data of your Wi-Fi network for installing and setting up the Mobi app!
Step #2 Access the Recordings Directory

Method #3 Use An External Recording Device
For Fetch TV copy recordings, you should consider setting up an external recording device with your Fetch TV box.
All you’re going to need is the DVR unit as well as the appropriate cables that match one of the sockets on the back of the Fetch TV box.
Remember that the DVR must use in-built storage and save all FTA recordings viewed on the Fetch TV box.
You can set up external DVR storage if no in-built directory is found.
Alert: Use a DVR that does not occupy the antenna socket on the TV box!
Here’s how a DVR can be generally used with your Fetch TV box:
- Plug the DVR into the video and audio socket on the box.
- Turn on your DVR and set the DVR to “Recording Mode.”
