Plugin your landline phone’s cord to the socket where your router is also connected to.

Determine whether there is a dial tone by making a phone call.

If this is not working, then it is best to contact EE’s technical support team to determine whether you have a faulty line which may affect your internet connection.

Restart Your Router

1. Broadband Outage

Before jumping to conclusions, the best proactive step is to check whether EE Broadband itself is down.

We recommend doing this before doing any troubleshooting methods.

Checking the Official Site

You may do this via surfing through your browser and checking through its official website or Twitter page.

The company often informs users of major outages and the possible troubleshooting timeline.

Checking Neighbour

You also can read the guidelines below to help you validate if other people are also experiencing trouble with EE Broadband being down.

Contact your neighbour who is using EE internet. Ask them if they are facing the same issue.

If they are also facing the same issue, you must be assured that there is an outage in your area.

In that case, you need to contact your service provider to ask when the issue will be resolved.

In most cases, outages occur beyond the control of your internet provider. This may happen due to sudden wind, fire, or any natural calamity.

Once verified, all you have to do is wait for them to fix it.

2. EE Broadband Red Light

If your EE Smart Hub has a red light, then there is a problem with your internet connection. If you got this error, then read the following paragraph to fix the issue.

Here is what you need to do:

Restart your router by turning it off for at least half a minute. Turn your router back on again. After restarting your router and the light does not turn into aqua color, then you need to do a factory reset while your router is on.

Factory reset your router by pressing on the factory reset button on your router using a paperclip or any tool that fits into the button.

Press and hold the factory reset button for at least half a minute until your router lights start to flash into colour green.

Release the button after the green light then wait for your router to initialize.

3. Know your Lights

It is important to note the following lights on your router. Knowing them can help you decide what to do next in times of error.

Green Light

This means that your router is already starting up when turned on

Flashing Yellow Light

This means that your router is already setting up your internet connection

Steady Aqua Light

If your router experience other colors on its light, then it is best to contact EE’s technical support team to determine how this affects your internet connection.

  • Check whether your router cables are properly connected

  • If you are on standard broadband service, then you may try switching into an ADSL through your settings

If your Bright Box has an internet red light, then there is a problem with your internet connection.

Look and see if your internet has a colour red light, proceed to EE’s admin page. Click Advanced and select Connect.

It is important to note that in Bright Box, the green light means that you are well-connected to your broadband service.

If your router experience other colors on its light, then it is best to contact EE’s technical support team to determine how this affects your internet connection.

If you want to determine whether you have a problem with your WiFi, feel free to plug your Ethernet Cable back in on the yellow Ethernet socket of your router.

Then, use the other end of the Ethernet Cable to plug into your laptop or PC, or any device with an Ethernet socket

If you have a stable internet connection after doing this, then there’s likely a problem with your WiFi. Contact EE’s technical service provider if you experience such a problem.

5. Wiring Problem

You may also experience problems due to wiring problems between your landline phone and broadband sockets.

Try using a microfilter on your master socket to connect both your phone and broadband.

If such would improve your overall connection, this means that you need to improve your WiFi range coverage. We recommend that you buy an extender.

To ensure that the lines you are using are working – not faulty. Do the following steps:

Step #1. Unscrew the faceplate of your master telephone socket, and you will see a test socket beside it.

Step #2. Plugin the cord of your phone to the socket and make a call.

Step #3. If you can dial through your test phone socket successfully, then it’s highly likely that what you’re experiencing are wiring problems. Contact the team for it.

Step #4. If you cannot dial through your test phone socket, then the problem lies with the phone line itself, contact their support team.

Step #5. If you are not able to do a test assessment, it’ll be best for you to contact your technical service provider.
