How to Fix Cricket WiFi Calling Not Working
It’s a no-brainer: restarting your device will often correct minor glitches and save you time.
So yeah, turn off your phone, router, and modem, then turn them back on. If this works, you don’t need to go through the rest of the troubleshooting tips.
Great, but my good guess is you’ve probably done that already, and it wasn’t of much help. Let’s, therefore, proceed to the next steps.
Solution #1: Switch to the 2.4 GHz Band
Your router can use both the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz bands. The 2.4 GHz band has a broader range but provides slower internet speeds.
On the other hand, the 5 GHz band allows faster internet speeds but has a considerably smaller range.
Your cricket WiFi calling may fail due to poor signal strength when connected to the 5.0 GHz band.
If you’re using a WiFi router, log in to the administrator dashboard and follow these steps:
- Open the Wireless settings.
- Navigate to the General settings under wireless.
- Select the 2.4 GHz band.
- Apply changes and exit.
Your mobile hotspot also comes in handy when you’re traveling and can only connect to the internet through mobile data.
Understandably, the mobile hotspot uses the 5.0 GHz WiFi frequency band by default. While it works great, not all devices can use this band.

You can just toggle Maximize Compatibility for newer Android smartphone versions, and you’re all set.
On iPhone, here’s how to do it:
Navigate to Settings > Personal Hotspot > Allow Others to join if you’re using an iPhone.
You can then switch to the 2.4 GHz band by clicking on Maximize Compatibility.
Note: These steps may vary slightly depending on your device version.
Solution #2: Turn Off Power Saving Mode
The Low Power Mode, Power Saving Mode, or battery saver setting in some smartphones prevents you from using mobile data and hotspot features.
While it helps you extend your battery life, it won’t allow you to use cricket WiFi calling.
Therefore, I highly recommend you turn off power saving to use mobile hotspot and WiFi.
Power saving mode could’ve been turned on automatically, but you can turn it off if you badly need to make that WiFi call.
If you’re using an iPhone, here’s how to turn off the Low Power Mode:
- Go to Settings.
- Navigate to Battery.
- Toggle off the Low Power Mode.
If you’re using an Android phone, you can also open the Settings and navigate to Power options. Next, turn off the battery saver mode.
Solution #3: Temporarily Turn On Airplane Mode
You can quickly refresh your connection by briefly turning on airplane mode and toggling it off again.
This works for Bluetooth, cellular data, mobile hotspots, and WiFi.
Open your phone settings, then tap the button for Airplane Mode. Wait 60 seconds, then toggle off airplane mode.
You can then re-establish your WiFi connection and try making the WiFi call. If it fails, proceed to the next steps.
Solution #4: Turn Off Mobile Data
Once you’ve refreshed all your wireless connections, it’s time to turn off mobile data.
Notably, cricket WiFi calling won’t work on mobile data when the default setting limits you to call over WiFi.
You can change your connections preferences from the wireless settings menu to make calls over WiFi. Alternatively, you can turn off mobile data altogether.
Solution #5: Hard Reset Your Router
Restoring the default settings on your router often solves the problem when Cricket WiFi calling isn’t working.
However, one thing to note is that you’ll lose all the other custom settings on the router. Therefore, backup your data before you perform this process.
Here’s how to reset your router:

If you need to use the multimedia messaging service, set MMSC to https://mmsc.Cricketwireless.net. Additionally, set the MMS Proxy to proxy.Cricket Wireless.net.
Finally, set the MMS Port, MCC, and MNC to 80, 310, and 150 in that order.
Once you’ve saved these settings, restart the phone on which you’ve set up a mobile hotspot and retry making the connection for WiFi calling.
Solution #7: Restore Network Settings to Default
You can also clear your network settings to flush out bugs and other software glitches that disrupt cricket WiFi calling.
This resets your WiFi, cellular, and VPN connections so you can begin on a clean slate.

If you’re using an iPhone, reset your network settings as follows:

Once you’ve reset your network configurations, kindly reboot your phone and retry making the Cricket WiFi call.
